I would call one of two people

Jerald (or Renaa) at D&H Cycle at 18115 US Highway 31 Cullman, AL 35058-0200
(256) 739-1840 > and see if he has a bike. I've bought bikes from him before from out of state and he will give you a square up front deal and even pick you up at the airport. They are absolutely some of the nicest people on the planet.

Or Tony Archuleta (sp?) at Yamaha Powersports in 1508 West Loop 281, Longview, TX 75604. 903-295- 8697. I met Tony at a FJR 1300 Rally a few years back when he was in Texarkana and he always did me right on parts and service. He's a straight up guy.

IIRC when we were all pre ordering the bikes, These two dealers had the lowest OTD prices in the US. Over the phone anyone can say anything and if you have a one way ticket, they have you right where they need you. I'm sure there are many honest dealers out there, but those two are the only ones that I would personally recommend. ::008::

IMHO! ::009::

I found a few dealers advertising on craigslist prices around 12.9k and out the door prices of 14.1k. So I went with the closest one to me that had a faster black model in stock ::025::

Hello all,

Not trying to hijack but this thread seemed like the right place.

I found a good deal on a demo bike (200 miles) loaded out with Yamaha accessories. Basically $13,500 OTD (no tax)

Would a demo bike bother anybody? Full factory warranty, etc.

Thanks for the advice. Great forum for the S10!

a steal IMHO, recall is likely already done too. still get to enjoy the break in period, so that 'new' experiece is still intact. go for it.

just make sure its a demo and not a early purchase model. some dealers were buying bikes early under the owners name so they could get them for people to see before a pre-order. Th only issue is the warranty started when they took delivery of the bike, not when you buy it.

I am on morphine in the hospital right now so I hope that makes sense...lol...good night.:)

I actually believe that with a reliable bike like the S10 buying it broken in is a plus. Bikes don't generally smooth out for a few thousand miles, and you get the smoothness right away. New bike feel is overrated, IMO (so is new car feel, by the same logic).

Not to thread jack, but what's with the hospital visit, Joe? All ok? Did you crash that Ferrari you were in in the other topic? :D

I bought out of state to take advantage of a low price and it led to headaches for me as well as my dealer. I would never do it again. In the future I will purchase locally to avoid anxiety and logistical complications, as well as, to support my local businessmen. My total liability in purchasing locally instead of long distance would have been less than $500 (and far fewer headaches), and I would have established a relationship close to home. The more you try to save the last penny, the more it costs you. Live and learn.

I have knowledge of a Super Tenere that is available in Colorado. PM me for information if you have interest.

nope! The Ferrari is in one piece still! I was training at work and my body released a chemical that shut down my kidneys. They caught it and I am now on meds to reverse it and bring me back to normal. I got here via ambulance on tuesday and will be here till sunday at the very least. :(

Thanks for all the advice. I am going to follow up on the warranty start date issue and also have them run the VIN through Yamaha to check the recall, etc.

As far as the local dealer I gave them a shot and they stuck to MSRP. I buy tons of parts from them (they match internet prices) so I have their support as a good customer. The only thing I really need a dealer for is warranty service and it will end up there no matter what for warranty work regardless of where I got it from.

Regardless the demo bike deal was not available there.

Thanks again,
Andy

I'm in Houston, TX and shopped all around Houston-Dallas-Austin-San Antonio. Found two dealers that would sell for $12,500 - one of which was just East of Houston. Set-up, doc fees, ect totaled $150 if I remember correctly. I feel that was about as good of a deal as someone will find at a dealership. I declined the YES warrenty as I don't think there will be many issues - I've followed the Euro forums since the bike was introduced. For all of the glory the BMW GS riders get for the 'ultimate' ADV bike, the new S10 is quite impressive. Only wish for another 20 hp or so.

Picked up the demo bike Friday.

$13,521 OTD plus TTL in my state
410 miles
Factory Side cases
Factory top case
Factory grip heaters
Factory skid plate
Factory crash bars

Couldn't pass it up.

Rides like a bigger (and much faster) version of my XR650L.

Hi WWV!

I'm here in SLC. Have you tried Full Throttle Powersports? They were willing to deal when I bought mine. I paid MSRP +doc fee at South Valley to get the color I wanted, but would have saved about $600 OTD from Full throttle (a little below MSRP before taxes). Possibly not the best deal in the country, but when you consider travel costs you need significant savings to justify it. In any event, I would definitely call all of the local dealers before traveling.

Anyway, the S10 is a great bike for around here. Loving mine,

Jan
