Tellico Plains is nice but I plan to be there in March for MMM and maybe pass thru again before or after Romney.

I'm traveling so can't vote from my phone but for reasons above I would prefer elsewhere.

Personally I see the big question not being where to have it but who will organize it. Consensus on where it should be and in what month will not make it happen. Someone stepping up, announcing place, dates and plans will get the ball rolling. Like eemsreno said the sooner this is started then more likely people can join.

Good point, in needing an organizer.

We've already got some big time commitments for next year, so I'm not sure what I will be able to attend. That said, I've got a few years of organizing experience with Dirt Dad in holding Romney and will offer to support whoever wants to step up as a leader. I could give guidance to anybody who's not been an organizer, and am not afraid to make phone calls, coordinate, etc.

Crap - Wonder what I just got myself into . . .

I dont mind doing one as when I do a rally I make it easy for me. As in close to me and a place I am familiar with.....

I can do one In Oct, I go back to work the 3rd and will look at my schedule and see when. Likely Oct, could be Sept......I try to do mine around along weekend as I work goofy hours and travel foe my gig. If we decide to do one out west I will help out but would prefer someone to take the lead.

AR or E TN is my pick............

I've never done Tellico Plains, but heard many good things about it. October also sound about right. Weather is usually pretty and no one in the far north has winterized their bikes yet.

As for planning, I'd also like to endorse Checkwrecks as someone who could give you many great pointers. ;D

I voted "east", but barely. It would be closest to me, and therefor easiest to get to... but the fact that it's closest and easiest to get to means I've already done it.

EDIT: I think "Steve's vacay notarally" handily proves my inability to organize anything. For that matter, you want a great show out West: try and hang it on Shredmeister - that dude knows how to put a party together. ;)

I too thought of Dale's words on this when we were in Cortez. Could've just been the fine libations talking as plenty were flowing that night. Not doubting his ability one iota but his plans sounded like a huge commitment. PNW would be nice though.

I couldn't remember if that conversation happened before you got there or not - but yeah, if he put something together in the PNW, I'd do whatever I had to to get there.

He dropped a half dozen epic ride routes without thinking about it, knows all the local dirt, and is just a hugely friendly, outgoing, welcoming guy who knows how to host a party. I planned to go to CO, ride, sleep, repeat. Getting together, breaking bread, hanging out, adult beverages - none of that was on even on my radar.

Cooler rides!!

I like the west and would be interested if it was west. If SW spring or fall. Otherwise whatever timing ensures the passes are open.

Now that I've voted...

1. I'm open for anyplace east of the Mississippi River. Tellico Plains is the area of the Dragon and would draw in a lot of the East coast owners. About 5 weeks later we have the Romney WV Camp-N-Ride. I'm not sure if a national event shouldn't be more middle of the country?
2. I'm open on time, other than avoiding competition with the Romney Camp-n-Ride. (You all are invited to that anyway!)
East of the Mississippi. Hmm.

First, YOU BIG SISSIE
Second, it's an adventure bike. A real non-poser. In fact, literally the best RTW bike on the planet.

They have bridges over the Mississippi river. You don't have to worry about a deep water crossing. (note Limey's immediate "I'm in". ADV stud. Limey, find a bridge)
Third, if it's just because you're OLD (me), throw it in the F150 and come see the world.
Man, I can't wait to get to Romney this year. You've loaded my gun. ;)

As for Patrick's picture, I feel both of those are rather flattering compared to a few trail-side images I have burnt into memory. (dude has legendary technique in the woods)

I just voted, for the east ;D I live in the north Georgia mountains and east Tennessee and western North Carolina are my weekend riding and camping areas. Of course, there's a ton of great forest roads and October is a good time.

In the past (2010), I've stayed at http://ironhorsenc.com/ for a bike rally and I loved it. First of all, you can't beat the location. They've got food - breakfast (daily) and dinner (Wed-Sun) - lunch on your own, a place for tent campers, cabins, bunkhouses, RVs, and on up from there, hot showers, ice, coolers (I think it's a dry county, so you have to bring your own beverages), etc. This is a really nice place and it's popular. They host all types of bike events from dual sports to cruisers.

There are a few other places in east TN and / or western NC, that could host our event, but this is likely the nicest.
