Just my opinion, but I doubt this problem would be affected by octane booster. Doesn't make technical sense. There are a lot of variables involved here and I'd bet that something else changed, possibly the engine just needed more miles. Regardless, glad the problem is solved.

I tend to agree Mark. Combo's stalling at idle and low revs sounds more like a water condensation problem that might have been improved by adding the octane booster IF it dispersed the water droplets so that they could be "burned" without causing the stalling. Just thinking out loud. When I got some bad gas (water) the YAM tech said that octane booster I added didn't help much but it did help a little. In constrast, water remover additive did work along with cleaning out the tank. Cheers!

The only down side I can see with this bike is that it seems to be octane and or corn sensitive. I notice this after the motor is warm and blip the throttle off idle.
I can get a ping and stall at times at stop signs and lights before taking off.

I have a habit of a blip of the throttle just at take off (my style) and have had this happen at least 2-3 times per tank full. Sometimes it recovers and about 2 out of 3 times it will ping cough and die.

I filled up this weekend in Bryan Texas on a trip and the thing ran perfect until I filled up in Baytown on the way home and it started doing it again.

Has anyone had a similar problem
I have to say I have had this happen three times approximately. I had forgotten completely until I read this post.
I don't think I had a ping but a couple stumbles and two shut offs. I just restarted thinking new bike and glad it started right up but now I'm wondering. California is one of those emission states that messes with our fuel. I guess I'll pick up some Lucas Octane booster to try if need be. Ping and knock are the same thing correct?? If I remember it seemed to happen as I was coasting to a stop then gave some throttle ....
Best,
