Since this info isn't spelled out in the database...Which manufacturer's racks are symmetrical vs. asymmetrical? The reason I ask is because I am looking at the Muffin Tops, and while he prefers SW Motech racks (asymmetrical), I want symmetrical racks (so I can mount a Rotopax or tool roll behind the right side rack).

jessee are square and strait and plumb without any fuckin around. they are hard core heavy duty. they are 16.5 inches wide without boxes. and 15" inches wide if you lose the handles. my friend got motech and with 8" boxes his total is 36" wide and he had to fuck around to get them close to plumb and they arent square. i can go 10" boxes and still be skinnier and square

I believe Givi and Hepco-Becker are the symmetrical ones. The SW-Motechs are asymmetrical.

I THINK the Givi are asymmetrical. I should have them Wed and will let you know. I'm pretty sure the right side is ~30mm closer than the left from what I read.

I have the 36L Caribou cases with Hepco-Becker rack and they are not quite symmetrical.
Excuse me for borrowing the photo above:

Those Hepco Becker racks above are the "new and improved" racks (will clear aftermarket exhaust). I have the older style and they don't look as skewed:

Correct, new version of HB. Spacers are the same length on both sides and they added a cross brace in the rear. The old ones were asymmetric with different length spacers.

The numbers you superimposed on my photo are BS! They are totally equal on both sides. You're older version may be like that buy mine is symmetrical.

AFAIK, all are now symetrical EXCEPT for the S-W Motech.

I have the Givi rack. It is not symetrical, but it is closer than some others I have seen. Probably about 1" off.

Not BS, I just used your picture with my measurements. I got mine pretty recently, so I'd think mine (asymmetrical) are the new ones, but I don't know for sure. Anyone concerned about it might want to inquire when ordering.
