Rod, any chance that was you I saw on an black FJR yesterday, early morning, heading north on 470 near Ken Caryl? I remembered seeing your post, had lost track of what day you were leaving. I was in the car, just passed another guy on an old Yamaha cruiser with a big gun on his hip, so wasn't inclined to honk, veer or make confusing hand signals.

Anyway, have a great trip!

G

No, wasn't me. I'm leaving first thing in the morning.

BTW, if anyone is interested in tracking my ride to Nelson BC, go to this site/link:

http://spotwalla.com/locationViewer.php?id=70

It uses the Google Latitude feature from my phone to track me. I'm identified by "RED" on the map (presently located in Loveland).

:)

Hey, that's neat. You'll have to tell me how to do that sometime. Probably be expensive. Go ahead and send money.

I clicked on RED and up pops a little balloon thingy ... but under TYPE it says OK ..... does that mean you're an OK type?

I dunno ..... I think you filled this in yourself. I'll track you from my oblivious status somewhere in Alaska. Have fun. That's an order !!! R

No cost whatsoever - sort of. It will track SPOT's as well as any smart phone (I use a Droid) that runs Google Latitude.

The instructions on how to set it up are on the spotwalla page itself. The guy who developed this program/website is a member here (I'd have to go look for his name again).

I'll be "OK" tomorrow - once on the road!!!!

:)

That reminds me of something I should mention to you guys. If you use the SPOT unit and count on it and are coming up north, they are intermittent up here. The satellites that service them are right at the extreme of their range. Sometimes you can hit one and lots of times you can't. It's a concern. We have stopped using Globalstar sat phones for that reason. They use the same satellites. We now use Iridium. Much more expensive but they use different satellites that roam farther north. Just wanted you to know. R

Good info Rem! I will not be that far north for it to be a problem.

Okay, the Rod-ster and I are outa here soon. I'm gone in about an hour. You boys behave yourselves and let's play nice while we're gone. Well, we won't actually be gone per say .... I guess we won't be gone at all really. Okay, go ahead and be naughty. Rod will keep an eye on you. Let's be safe out there this week. Rod, have a great trip. I'll try to do the same. If I survive the construction at Beaver Creek, should be good to go.

Bye for now. Gonna go kick some pavement butt. R

I'm in Sheridan WY. Nice ride up - not too warm and not too cool (about 60 to 75 all the way). Just sitting back enjoying a margarita and some crackers. It don't get any better than that!!!

We made it to Tok, Alaska. 400 miles. pretty good for us old guys. Weather was mostly Great. Much better than forecast. Road construction was poor but not as bad as predicted. Heading for Palmer and beyond today. We'll see. Internet service here is very poor so that's it from me. Gonna head out again soon, but a much shorted day today. Let's be safe out there. R

Good ride today - about 475 miles or so. Had a high of about 67 and a few showers. I think tomorrow is going to be a little better as we go into Canada.

Rod, I can see you are getting some use out of the Tenere luggage you are going to use on the new bike.

Yeah, I sold the E460 that I had been using on the FJR and started using one of my new Trekkers. I REALLY like them!!!
