What does the OEM rear rack look like on the bike? My 2016 came with the OEM top case and mounting bits and I’d rather use duffel bags or a tailbag for hauling my camping gear. I’ve read the crappy reviews on the OEM rack and am looking at the alternatives.

I'd debating on making my OEM panniers black. Not quite sure if I should paint them or use some sort of dura liner/undercoat type spray. Has anyone here gone from silver to black? What did you use and did it hold up?

I don't do much off-roading other than the occasional dirt and gravel roads...

I did one with Tremclad (I think, I can't remember exactly but it was from Home-Depot). So far so good, I even forgot that it was painted. The most annoying is masking up all the plastic pieces.

You can coat it with Plasti-dip. If you're not hitting a lot of gravel, it should last. For more durability you can apply enamel over it. The beauty is if you ever want to go back to silver it will peel off, even if you used enamel over it. I did that on some 4Runner parts and it worked well.

Done! I carefully removed all my decals and saved them so I can reapply them to my tool cabinet in the garage. I used Engine Enamel semi gloss paint.

I got the gold Super Tenere decal kit on Ebay from a guy in Bulgaria and they are great quality!
