I went with a Vista Cruise. You can flip it off & on with just your thumb. $35-$40.

Haven't got a throttle lock yet but I'm glad you opened up the discussion since I myself am a new owner and have gotten great ideas from your post alone. My previous bike was a Harley and I quickly found the Throttle Rocker that helped me cruise for miles and miles when conditions did not allow one to lock the throttle. Bought one today to fit to the SuperT.

I've sold both of them and I give the nod to the Go Cruise over the Omni. I think it grips the grip better and is $10-$15 cheaper which is a bonus. The little flipper on the back of the Omni is nice, but not necessary.

I have the Kaoko. work great, impossible to over tighten. My last bike had factory cruise like a car so I thought I would be disappointed with this type of throttle lock but it works really well. Just have to nudge it to maintain speed because of hills. I would never waste my money on some kind of $1,500 electronic cruise, not even close to being worth it with a product like a Kyoko. it looks stock too.

Another happy Excel user here. I tried the Vista Cruise on both my FJR and my Ten, and I never could get them to hold correctly. For me, the only thing better than a GOOD throttle lock would be the electronic cruise on the 2014...

The trick with the Vista Cruise is to make sure it's biting the grip all the way around. If you remove the grip and slide the VC up and down the throttle sleeve several times, you can see where the VC is touching the sleeve. Sand down the high spot in the VC just a little and slide it on again. It took me doing this about 5-6 time (10 minutes or 1 beer) to get the VC where it was touching the throttle sleeve all the way around. When you get it to this point, it takes very little pressure for it to hold the throttle where you set it.

A touch pricey, but worth every penny... Excel.

+1 on the Excel. It's a great product. Pricey, BUT it is the best non electronic I've ever had, and over the last 47 years I've had pretty much all of 'em. Tom is a great guy to work with as well. Great service, great product. Highly recommend!

$2 if you have to buy a 0.99 cent roll of black tape on the road; twist #12 gauge solid copper electrical wire (color is your choice) until tight with pliers, then wrap with black tape or could get fancy and put shrink tubing on.

Forgot to mention came back from Moab UT to Iowa last year with no problems if you get the right crimp on it. Can still roll throttle back if a deer jumps out from the ditch.

Here are my two cents on the Kaoko...

It's well made, high quality, simple concept, easy to install/uninstall and worth the price.

It works perfectly if you're looking for something that will allow you to rest your right hand, but it's no cruise control by any stretch of the imagination since it locks the speed in for the current road condition. Once that condition change (i.e. hills) so will your speed. Constantly readjusting it when you're not riding straights is not a big deal, it's not like you're busy with much else, but it will make you wish you had real cruise control.

To be honest, I only install it when I go on longer rides since I tend to place my hands wide on the grips and it's annoying to feel the wheel lock when I never use it around town or while I commute to/from work. But like I said earlier, it's really easy to install/uninstall, so again, no biggie.

Overall, it's a good buy and I recommend it. I got a lot of farkles on my bike now, and though the Kaoko is not a "critical", it's something nice having for us pre-'14'ers to have.

I went with the Excel. Ridiculously expensive...But so frickin' well made and works like a charm. Thanks, for all the ideas.
