New Helmet, need advise

I bought a new helmet and need some advise on it. I bought the LS2 Vallient II because I love the looks and features, a couple of years ago I bought the original version but, as it turns out, was a seriously wrong fit. The original was a Long Oval and my head is an Intermediate Oval, the original fit so badly that I actually burst a blood vessel in my eye, only then would they take it back as they kept saying I needed time to work it in. So I went back to buying an HJC, I have only ever had HJC and Bell and they have always fit perfectly from the start so this "give it time to break in" was totally foreign to me.
Did my research and this new Vallient II is now a long Oval so I thought I would give it a shot again. I have been wearing this new one around the house for half an hour to 45 minutes at a time, probably have about 2 hours, maybe 3 and it still feels tight and a little akward feeling. No hot spots really, it is fine while it is on but when I take it off it feels like I had something on my head. Not really a headache but just a tight feeling, size is correct as I tried a larger and a smaller and they were both totally wrong.
Does it really take you time to break it in? Not sure if I should take it back, which they will do as it has not been on the road and stickers are still on it.

I'll say yes, sometimes it does take a bit for it to fit perfect. If you're feeling pain, that might lessen, but not go away. Along the line of if it's not broke, don't fix it . . . . why not just stick with HJC & Bell?

Good question, I should have expanded on that more. The LS2 Vallient II has a chinbar that can either be a full face or it can lift up and go behind the head so it is a 3/4. I like the 3/4 lids but am trying to be a good boy and use a FF. This way when I go on a long trip I have both and don't have to worry about cold or bad weather, just lift the chin bar and snap it in place.

Oh, ok. I've worn 3/4s before, but my personal helmet has always been a full face. With our heat it doesn't matter what you wear, you're gonna sweat, and I hate getting hit by Junebugs.

You could try Lidpicker from motorcyclegear.com. I did for my last purchase and it produced a list of helmets that would fit you. I’ve got no “dog in this fight” with the folks at motorcyclegear, com except I’m a satisfied customer

I wear a xl long oval helmet. Arai Signet. It's the only helmet I've ever had that fit like a glove on my long melon. They have liners you can get to fine tune the thickness. I just returned a cheap LS2. Not a modular. It was allegedly the same size as my xl Arai. It was way to small.

With helmets fit your mileage will ALWAYS vary. I will never again buy a helmet online. I annoy the stores by wearing the helmet for an hour in their store but it works for me. If I still feel the squeeze after that, I walk away

I have a first-gen LS2 size large and I ordered an xl liner and it fixed the pressure on my head. My glasses still don't work right even though it says it has a slot for them. I might go to the new version especially since it's lighter. I've had my LS2 for three years now

You said the first one was long oval and fit like crap, and now the second one is long oval? What sort of change in fit were you expecting?

Yeah, my 3/4 helmet size, and my full face helmet size were very different; same manufacturer. Oddly enough, I had to use a larger size on the 3/4 than the full. I would have thought it to be the opposite. I used to be a Shoei head . . . . now I'm an Arai head.

I'm LEGIT long oval. Lol! If I may, here's my quick 2 cents notes:

* Fwiw, LS2 is a Spanish co. but made in China (at last check)
* Only lid to date that I've tried/owned for true long oval accomodations is the Arai Signet
* Shoei Neotec II and HJC (in general) can break in for decent intermediate oval accomodation (in my experience).
* Klim Krios Pro is a long oval lounge chair!
* If you have immediate discomfort in the crown area, I'd leave it alone. Cheek pads can be changed for fit & comfort; not the crown (not safely anyway)
* At RevZilla's website you can run the filter to display ONLY long oval helmets. I'd do that, then sorted by highest rating, then check out the reviews accordingly

Good luck :)
