It says it's not DOT approved. We don't do bike inspections in AR. Are there states that could check for DOT approval?

I may be wrong, but unless you find a true aftermarket housing/projector that's DOT approved for HID/LED bulbs, anything but your standard H7 halogen is going to be for "off road only" use.

At least here in central Iowa, unless you give the police a reason to pull you over, it's highly unlikely any reasonable HID/LED setup (color temp/output/correct aiming) will get you stopped just for it. Same can be said for license plate lights, they're a giveaway for probable cause if you're acting suspicious or stupid, for a traffic stop.

I know I didn't really answer your question directly, but all I've ever heard of stateside is some states doing emissions testing.

Mike,

Other than your stock bulbs at your stock wattage, most lights will not be DOT approved.

Your headlight housing will still have the DOT stamping, or you could revert to stock for inspection.

Lots of guys run HIDs or higher wattage H7s. No DOT on those either.

It's really up you each rider. I'll take my chances on non-DOT for the increased visibility.

No, I understand. I've had aux lights on all of my bikes without concern of breaking regulations. I keep them on all of the time as I want to be seen. I just didn't know if it was ever checked.

All I've seen in AR is checking for DOT approved tires on Highway 215 (TAT) and that's been a while.

The biggest question mark for me is if they can be used without clearance issues or modification of the access cap of the back of the headlamp

Really only one way to find out...

My H4 for the WR arrived today. Quality appears to be there. I hope to install it tonight. I'm waiting for dark so I can do a comparison picture.

Man, those H7's look nice but unless we remove the plastic covers they are not going to work. Even if they fit in there with the covers installed, which I 'm not sure they will, the fan needs air to cool them.
I asked that question. He advised me that there would still be plenty of air circulating in the headlight housing.

18 month warranty. If they stand by it, I don't see much risk.

Hit a SNAFU with the WRR bulb. Darryl is on top of it and will have a solution to me next week.

I still think the H7s would be perfect for the Tenere.

I asked about being contained in the headlight housing. The owner of the company said they ran the bulb for days on end inside of a sealed Tupperware with no issues.

With the 18-month warranty I wouldn't worry too much. If you have concerns, give them a call. I think you'll find the same passionate motorcyclists we all love to buy from and support.

Interesting but what does require modifying, the wiring looks to be different and not a stock H7 connector which seems odd?
That's a prototype model. Apparently the production units will be plug and play.

I've seen those before, but never have taken the initiative to see if they'd fit inside the cover. If they do, game on. ::008::

Looks intriguing! The depth added by the built-in voltage reducer might require modification of the S10's access caps. Too bad they don't offer and inline module as an option.
