How much are these things worth and is there a market for them? I'd really like bigger cases. These ones have zero miles and extra keys cut for them. Also a spare lock. I may end up running them this year unless somebody want them and we can make a deal. These come off a 2015 super Tenere es

I have had zero luck selling mine near new at 33% RRP.

I replaced my luggage with touratech boxes so the old OEM boxes are just gathering dust.

I wondered if that may be the case. I'll keep my eyes and ears open for someone who wants them. If not, I'll run them. Too much money being spent on other things for this bike. Haha

Ya, I assumed it wouldn't be a lot. Just looking to supplement the new bags budget. If there isn't a market for them, I'll run them for my California trip. The locks were really sticky when I first got the bike but I've lubed them with a silicone lubricant and they seem to work ok now. I have 2 extra keys made up for them as I don't want to use my ignition key all the time.

Really, Rizzo, Really???

I know you just got your ride, so maybe do a prepack test loading, cause its stupid winter, and see if you really NEED bigger boxes...
I did 21 days to California two years back and had more than enough room with the two boxes and Givi tank bag...
IMO if you need more, then you are carrying too much and there are other solutions to that end like Ford Super Duty,
[at least you retain a Super].....

I'm not sure why many are so down on the OEM panniers outside them being likely less sturdy that some other brands. I say likely because I have never put their durability to the test. However, if I was doing serious off-roading, I'd be using soft bags anyway. I've found them to work great and have plenty of capacity though I did go with a larger Givi topbox partially for capacity and partially because I like the look if it better than the oem box.
My favorite thing is when they are removed, you don't have an erector set hanging off the bike.

I had 2 major issues with the OEM cases:

1. The locks liked to fall out unless you took out the screws and put loc-tite on them
2. There was no "unlocked" position on the cases

I got a pair of panniers from China that are fully aluminum, have an "unlocked" position on the locks, the lid comes completely off, and are pretty simple to put on and off. I've never yelled at these cases but have plenty of times on the OEM ones.

in my real world use they have worked well and saved the bike from numerous 'scratches' ::026::

I like this idea and if I was going to deliver pizza, this is how I would do it ::026::

I agree on the soft luggage for offroad. When I went to CO a couple years back on my 950 Adventure, I left the Gobi's at home and strapped 80l Sealline bags to the racks instead. A couple drops on tricky passes and no damage to the bags.
The following summer I got cross rutted and crashed with the Gobi's on. They were held on with rokstraps when I sold it

OK, so maybe I can leave my encyclopedia set and my inflatable sheep at home lol . but it's not only the size. I like the top loading but I hate how they're always locked and how sticky the locks are. My right case wouldn't open at all when I got it home with zero miles on it. It works better now after some lubrication. I had a couple extra keys made up for the locks because I already bent my ignition key and I won't use it on the bags again. I was planning to use the stock bags but I thought I'd see if there was a market for them because some people like them.

I actually used to travel a million years ago with a GSX-R750 and then later with a ZX-9. I had a tank bag, soft luggage and a cargo net holding my tent and sleeping bag. I was never left wanting. I was a lot younger then and I could make do with less. I actually left for Kelowna once and ended up travelling out to Tofino on the same amount of gear. Now, I have to travel with a stupid CPAP machine now so I have to figure out how to camp with that thing. It takes up a bit of room.
Barking Lizard, I thought my California trip was going to be with a truck and trailer(I'm a Cummins guy so no Super Duty for me haha). Short but unnecessary story behind that one. I'll hopefully be leaving in May for a solo trip down the PCH.

I have the same issue...it certainly takes up a lot of space :(

I don't know how the heck I'm going to camp with it. I'll need to find some kind of stored power system. I know ResMed makes one but it's big time money. Just something else to pack with me on my bike. argh

I've looked into it...the battery won't even last 6-7 hours with a humidifier. You can use a car battery but it needs and inverter, or a generator but who wants to lug either of those around.

Technically yes but very unlikely for just a few days of not using it. It has serious health impacts if untreated. However, I (and most who have moderate to severe apnea) get very poor sleep so 8 hours of shut eye is the equivalent of getting 2-3 hours of actual good sleep. Not good if you need to stay sharp on the bike. Plus it leads to snoring which tends to make others pretty unhappy.

Would you die if you went a few nights without the CPAP?
Ive forgotten my CPAP machine before when I went away for the weekend. I woke up a few times gasping for air. Obviously I stopped breathing and my body panicked and woke me up. Its very unsettling. However, like JRE mentioned, it's unlikely you'll die (although possible), but you get a lousy lousy night's sleep. I'm not sure I'd be a happy guy after camping without it for 3 weeks or so.

Recently I have heard radio commercials for what is said to be a compact CPAP that the commercials say is perfect for travelling.. Anything to that?

Yeah, there are some options...not cheap though. They are $800 - $1200 and not all of them have humidifiers which is not a good thing. Then you still have to plug it in somewhere...

Boy this thread really got off-topic!

BTW Fred - Sonya and I may be headed to STL at the end of June...if so, I'll give you a shout.
