Need Advice on how to remove seal from drive shaft for replacement

I need some advise on how to replace the drive shaft seal without messing something up. What is the proper way to remove the oil seal from the drive shaft? I don't want to scratch the surface the seal sits on.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Never removed it, but I think you'll find a circlip and washer that need to come off - then the seal should be easy to pull off the shaft. If you've already got these off, then it should just be a light press fit.

if you are talking about possibly cutting it when you cross the snap ring groove, wrap two rounds of electrical tape and carefully remove and or install. The manufacturer probably used a really fancy seal installer like these but specific for the shaft:

My big concern is that I don't want to go trying to pry the old seal off with a screw driver and scratch the surface the seal sits on.

Won't it slide off the other end? I'm just missing something maybe...

I got it off, finally resorted to some brute force. I have messed things up in the past trying to pry or force something and was trying to avoid that mistake. Turns out hard prying was the answer.

Out of curiosity, what lead you to the idea that you WANT/NEED to change that seal?

I had a leak on the drive shaft side of the final drive,

so I decided to replace both seals since I did not know which one was leaking. They are about $10 each.
