I put the OEM Yamaha deflectors on and it's one of the best things I have done to the ST. Without the deflectors I was getting a lot of wind noise and buffeting. I would hold my hand down in the area where they attach and there was a very strong air flow coming from that area straight at me. With the deflectors the buffeting and noise are gone. If someone stole my deflectors and the new ones had gone up to $200, I would grab them. I have the VStream shield and I don't think the windshield even played into the buffeting either because the wind was coming around the side panels. ::012:: ::012:: ::012::

I have the wind wings and they work fantastic, although they are rather large. I took them off for the summer and will be putting them back for this winter.

Factory wings are a great value and really work well. Just ask all the bugs I have to clean off the BOTTOM side instead of my jacket. Also have mid-size NC V-Stream. At 6'-2" it let's just enough air hit top of the helmet for the vent intakes to work.

Yo, Cy. I have the Cee Bailey wind deflectors and the National Cycle mid-size windshield. I like them both very much. I had the NC windshield on my other Tenere (that I wrecked) and I bought the same one as a replacement on my new Tenere. I had the OEM wind deflectors on the old bike, but bought the CB's mainly because they made a nice grey that matched my new bike really well. I was ridiculed by some because the CB's are said to be big and ugly (not unlike myself), but I like them and I don't even notice them anymore. They blend in with the bike well, and they are deflecting rascals. I'll go with the same set up again when I wreck this bike .... ::025:: ::025:: KIDDING .... I hope. Good luck. R ::001::

I have the Yamaha wind deflectors. I originally thought that I would take them off in warmer weather and put them on for rainy and cooler seasons, but have just left them on. I use a CalSci Medium windshield, for reference. I'm happy with the performance and it does help defect wind/rain better than w/o them. I did find the glare off the side wind deflectors to be very annoying though, so painted them matte black with a rattle can of Rustoleum that was rated for plastic. Worked great and eliminated the unpleasant glare. Looks fine on the black bike too and has held up well.

I put the Yamaha side deflector on after the first ride, they definitely help with keeping the wind and the bugs off of you. I picked them up on Ebay for $80 and had them in 2 days. I had the OEM windscreen in the high position until I installed the 22" Cee Bailey windscreen, which I needed because I am 6' 2".

"Placed my wind wings on last week. Less wind on lower chest, abdomen and arms at high speeds. Not a hugh difference compared to the 26" windshield which for the first time allowed my helmet screen to fog due to such low airflow. Zero issue with sun glare (unless you try at noon in Florida) and utterly invisible."

I have the Cee Baily, light smoke deflectors, and stock windshield. I put them on for cold weather, and take them off for warm weather. They do a nice job of deflecting much of the lower air, that the windshield does not. If I recall correctly, this would be from upper legs, to lower stomach & sides. Certainly keeps me warmer in cold temps. The Cee Baily's are somewhat larger than the Yamaha ones, but I never tried the Yamaha ones, so can't really comment on them.

OEM Wind Wings and they work very well.

I have a PowerBronze windshield and space the top forward 3/8". 6' 0", 32" inseam, no buffeting. It is the approximate size of the OEM Tall windshield.

Yamaha wings with stock windshield seem to work pretty good. Higstatic, could you tell a little more about your Airflow? It appears to be a good combo, Airflow and Yamaha wings.

Howdy,
My thought is no matter what windshield you are running you will be very happy adding the OEM wind deflectors, cheap and a real bang for the buck. My perspective is coming from riding a GL1800 for 90k miles. :)

One of the first items I added was OEM wind deflectors. Fit well, nice quality and IMHO, not as fugly as the CB's. Still searching for a replacement windshield but leaning towards a medium Vstream for starters.

Hey G,
That's exactly what I'm running with my OEM wind deflectors. Tried a C Bailey mid which was nice but I like the V-Stream better.
