I think mine will be Black Betty, unless of course I do something stupid on the way home and acquire a name with specific meaning. I bought a Porsche a few years ago and shortly there after clipped a curb doing about $1500 damage to a rim and tire and my smart ass wife (of 25 years) named it Kirby, it stuck :-[

Well we've all kidded around about it or speculated about it, but have any of you picked out a name for your bike? Let's see what you got? Personally I haven't named mine yet, and probably won't until I've spent some time in the saddle.

I got a pretty decent slogan though.

Yamaha Super Tenere... XTZ is ecstasy

Cute idea. Not sure I would be naming anything. It would have to be something very indirect that would almost be an in-joke.

Yep, they usually get named in my stable. But, a name is never thought out until after several hundred miles with her. One usually just comes about then.

Funny story, my '09 BMW K1300GT in red ended up with the name Heather. This was in honor of, Heather, the little red headed girl that Charlie Brown always dreamed of but never had. Well, after BMW bought that one back, her name's meaning certainly fit! I certainly didn't have her for long. :)) :)) :))

That little angel is my daughter, Amelia Grace. She showed up WAY early on October 13, 2010 via emergency c-section. She wasn't supposed to be here until December 26, 2010. We LIVED for 4 months in the parking lot of Sutter Roseville Med Center in a borrowed RV as Amelia needed time in the NICU before she could come home. She did so on February 8, 2011. She is now perfect in every way and just being a little heart string tugger who already has her dad wrapped around her little finger! All this happened 6 years after the doctor said Jamie and I couldn't have kids. Well, I guess we showed him!

I also have a son, who is 18 years old. He is starting college this fall at UC Berkeley on a full ride athletic scholarship for pole vault.

And if you think THAT story is something, try this one on for size! Yea, I got stories to tell!!!! (I'm 1bmwfan)

Fire,

We have more in common then these bikes. I have one of those 18 year olds and he starts college in 2 weeks at The Citedel also on a pole vault scholarship! What are the odds of two of us having that in common? He is about to find out what a Military School is all about. It is where he wanted to go for a long time and he Had no interest in any of the big Texas schools. He had an ofer to play football at TCU but wanted this.

How a bike gets it's name...

I know that there was a thread a while back that discussed bike names and who does and doesn't name their bikes.

Well now I know how this happens.....

Today I was riding in the country next to corn field that had been recently harvested (ground up more like) and there was a dirt devil that had all of the corn husks headed toward the heavens for as far as I could see. It started out to be about 50 yards away and looked to be stationary so i continued...you guessed it, as I continued it shifted and I found myself riding straight through a dust devil loaded with corn husks. Can't tell you what an interesting sensation that was, lots of wind but nothing too dangerous. So the bikes new name is:

Blue Devil >:D
