Hiya
I wasn't too happy with the comfort of the standard seat so I started looking round for a replacement.
I fancy the Touratech seats but at almost £800 for the two, I wanted to explore other options first.
I found a company not too far away that use 'Gelastic' pads. They can simply remove the existing cover, cut the gel pads into the existing material and put the standard cover back on. Same day turnaround.
They also offer a service where they slightly re-shape the seats, insert the pads and get them re-covered (choice of two finishes - I preferred this basket weave pattern). Same week turnaround.
For just £255 the pair (!) I thought they have to be worth a punt.
I'm extremely happy with the quality of the work though the first ride out, it didn't feel any different to me :(
I can't recall if gel seats need 'breaking in'. The one I had on my Triumph Rocket 3 was comfy after a while so I'm hoping it's the same with these.
Anyway, attached are a few pics ...

Indeed they do look good. What did you have done? Just the gel inserts? How do they feel?

And who is the company? Good work like that needs recommending.

Sorry for the delayed reply chaps, I've been busy

Custom Seats in Coventry

http://www.motorbike-seats.co.uk/

A father and son set-up. Really nice blokes.
I called them up for prices and they go through it over the phone and give a price there and then. Return shipping was £15 but they give you a total price on the phone.
I'm only about 45 minutes away but I posted them. They either accept a cheque (send with the seats) or Melvin (the father) phones with the details so you can do a bank transfer (option I chose).
It cost me about 19 quid to send them but I think I did wrap them a bit too well and the box I used was bloody heavy too.

Option 1 : they simply remove the original seat covers and cut the gel pads into the existing seat material and re-cover using the existing material because the seat is the same profile.
Option 2 : the one I decided on - they remove the old original sandpaper ... I mean original seat cover ... then they re-shape the original seat material a little and then cut the gel pads into the original foam material.

My seats arrived with them on the Friday, they did their work over that weekend and sent the seats to the upholsterer on the Monday. The seats arrived back with me on the Friday. I was just a week without them.

Just a disclaimer - I have no association with the company and get no kick backs for mentioning them. I found them searching through local companies on Google.
It was useful actually because the search also turned up a company about 5 minutes away who do pukka re-trimming. If the gel pads soften up ok, as I suspect they will, I'm looking at using these guys ... http://www.dhaden.co.uk/ ... to re-cover them using leather.

A story on gel pads. I bought the gel seat for my Multistrada years ago despite the feedback that they get very hot in the sun. First ride I was way happy with the comfort and had no issues with the heat. A month later when it got hot I had parked the bike at lunch in the sun. When I got on it a hour later i nearly burned my rear off through my Areostich pants. I ended up riding standing for 30 minutes as the breeze attempted to cool the seat off. If you are in an area where it gets warm, or the sun shines, cover then seat with a towel or jacket when you are not on it. A black vinyl seat absorbing the sun will heat the gel to burning temperatures. ???

Hah! ::025:: ::025:: Had a gel seat on my Tiger 955i and it used to get a little warm when left in direct sunlight. Agree with Yam Yam too as living in the UK, we tend not to have that many hot and sunny days. Sometimes you can only tell what season we're in by checking whether the rain is cold or warm.
