Anyone else notice Sport being a little bit to jerky? I've been riding in Touring mainly, seems to be a bit smoother. To the Pre-14 folks, does Sport get smoother after a reflash?
Get out on some twisty roads and romp on it and then tell me the throttle response is not good. Its sport mode! The fueling is fantastic for hard and big throttle openings. ::26:: If you want a smooth throttle on side streets and city traffic, you will have to train your wrist to be smooth on the throttle, otherwise you can flip that little button, to set her on touring mode and you have a nice smooth throttle response for riding around town. The Flash actually gives it more teeth, and makes touring mode very nice around town.

I'm still under 1k miles but both the T and S mode are a bit twitchy from what I remember. I'm sure it will smooth out some with a few miles, it's not something I can't live with if it stayed the same but I do seem to remember the 2012 being less-twitchy. Of course, I have memory issues so who knows.

I agree, Mellow, that the 2014 is more twitchy than the 2012 in S mode, though I didn't find that in T mode on the new one. I will say, however, that my 2012 was twitchy and hard to modulate until I took most of the slack out of the throttle cables (they were very loose from the factory). The 2014 throttle cables have a lot less slack from the factory, but I might still eliminate that last little bit of freeplay when I have the time to do it. In any case, with a little finesse of the wrist I don't find the 2014 objectionable as is, and do like the sharper S mode response of the new one. Whenever I give it a spirited thrashing I always say to myself 'why would anyone want or need more power than this in an adv style bike?'

I can imagine how frustrating this is for you. Hopefully, this is just an anomaly and can be readily corrected with some tweaking by the dealer. There are always electronic gremlins about, especially in brand new stuff. ::007::

Regarding your "rant", I think this is the precise Forum (pardon the pun) for that. Get it off your chest here, and you'll be in a much better frame of mind to engage the dealer. REMember, the dealer likely won't know anything about all this until you bring it to their attention.

And I though your "rant" was articulate and controlled. Don't worry about it. Anyway, please keep us posted. We're pulling for you. ::020::

But don't take no pucky from the dealer. If necessary, I can dispatch Vinny and Guido to deal with them. R ::008::

I find the S mode to be very smooth after the reflash but it does require fine throttle inputs. If you're hamfisted you'll get jerked around like a rag doll.

All I know is I can't wait to get past the 1st 1k mile break-in so I can unleash the Kracken... LOL

The good news about the issue the OP has is that it sounds like the Cruise Control issue can be recreated...

I'd rather have it happen frequently, as in your case. Much easier for the dealer to duplicate/troubleshoot it that way.

You do know there is no rpm restriction during break in, right?

Yeah, I know, it says 'avoid prolonged operation' above 3900 during the 1st 600 and 4k something under 1000... And I've 'pushed' the throttle a little here and there... Just being cautious for the 1st 1k... I should be past it this weekend so no big deal...

To the others with 2014s the speedo seems pretty accurate. Mine’s always within 1-2 mph of my Garmin GPS.
Oh, is it? I ordered our 2014 yesterday and, on the grounds the 2011 speedo was miles out I ordered a new speedo healer at the same time. Sounds like I didn't need it. :-[

it's much more responsive than it was on my '12 S10 in stock form. Kinda reminds me of my BMW K1600 in sport mode. It's not a mode I use for city riding, but is perfect for sport touring.

5/22/14 UPDATE!

So, went to the dealer yesterday with 475 mi on it since they owed me a first service and to check on the cruise and stalling. Dealer wanted to charge me $100 diag if they didn't find anything wrong with the bike. Yea right! Not. Told him about the stalling issues/fix that I've read on here, they could care less. I get it back a couple hours later, no problems found of course. Whatever. Took the bike for a nice long ride after, I just feel silly giving the bike so much throttle input to keep it from stalling seeing as how it's a torquey 1200. Found the cruise issue myself. The rear brake switch/lever is sensitive to adjustment, and if adjusted in it's lowest (most comfortable) position it trips up the computer. Adjusted up it's been 100%.

I have a full exhaust/PCV/BMC ready to go on, hopefully the improved tune will help the stalling. While at the dealer I also ordered the wind defectors in an effort to reduce the turbulence I've been feeling.

A PCV/full exhaust is a great addition but I would recommend you get the ECU flashed first, if they have it developed for the 2014.

When it's released, I'll certainly take a look to get the power in the lower gears.

It actually boosts power/response everywhere. Rode my Gen I back to back with a 14 ES and it felt very soft in comparison.

Several weeks after that I added a PCV and Arrow headers and ended up with these gains. Even more fun to ride now....
