Sorry to hear about your fall!! Work hard at therapy and get well fast.
Gat said:Good job! Ooops, I mean get well soon.
Thirteens years ago this month I got the same hardware!
I did a few months of work after the fixation was removed but could only get my hand to 90 degrees (thumb up, no supination at all). When I broke the bone it shortened a bit so they had to take 1/2" out of the other bone (ulna). I now have about 85% supination, pronation is fine.colorider said:Hmmmm, looks very similar! They had mine open a few days ago for a re-wrap.
How did you do for regaining mobility?
AFAIK, mine should be the same length as before my fall! I'm hoping for near-full mobility, but that will only come with time and therapy. I'm wondering if being older will have bearing on what may have been had I been younger.Gat said:I did a few months of work after the fixation was removed but could only get my hand to 90 degrees (thumb up, no supination at all). Just keep at the therapy! Also be sure to rub the skin over the spots where the pins were. If not the skin will stick to the bone (guess how I know this...).colorider said:AFAIK, mine should be the same length as before my fall! Stick to the bone - or to the pins? Had my first therapy yesterday (finger movement only) and it went pretty well. Also learned that I need to clean and re-dress the injury daily, so my wife was none too excited........ She doesn't do blood, etc very well.Gat said:Just keep at the therapy! The skin can stick to the bone - after the pins are removed.colorider said:Stick to the bone - or to the pins? Had my first therapy yesterday (finger movement only) and it went pretty well. I talked to my doc this PM and he indicated we would not need to do the daily clean/re-dress as long as the full wrap was on. Later (probably next week), they will only cover the areas where the pins/incisions are and do away with all the bulky wrapping. At that time we will need to routinely clean those areas.Gat said:The skin can stick to the bone - after the pins are removed.
I didn't start therapy until the fixation was removed. I also didn't have to re-dress my stuff at all during the 8 weeks it was on (maybe they did it once or twice).
Good luck and keep on it. You'll need to be ready for spring!!
Thanks Ed!!! Another 2 weeks until my next appoinment. Xrays are scheduled for then and hopefully they will have a timeline for removing this cumbersome traction bar after review.Motorcyclisted said:ColoRider,
