After getting the Metz Next on I got encouraged to loss a little wieght.

I recently ripped my Hamstring real bad so I won't be doing any dirt for a while so I thought why not go and enjoy it on the twistys. I am planning to run into California and go to the Rock Store and do some Canyon Carving.

Looking sleek! You're braver than I would be. Even if sticking to street riding, I'd still keep the skid plate mounted up. You never know what the front tire will kick up.

ive gotten rid of my slip on a long time ago.
Just curious, how much did the c.stand and rear hangers weigh...in my case I can't get rid of either, and my acd skid plate needs to stay on

the whole pile was 35lbs. If I need to put the boxes back it only takes minutes to replace the pass pegs and brackets.

Is it faster? Ooh Yes I can feel it!
does it get better fuel milage? Yes but the fun factor offset any increase.
Is the lean angle increased? I wouldn't know, never touched any thing before, but yes it must be.
Can I do that to a Black one? No only Blue!

Like the looks but if I need to lose 35 pounds it will be my 35 pounds... maybe 40 pounds.

Not giving up the centerstand... changing tires, loading/unloading luggage, servicing the swingarm/drive shaft.

funny I could have sworn it was a weight loss of the personal type. Alternately, I have lost close to 30 lb, by changing my diet (small portions, less salt, booze etc) and exercising.
I was close to 200, down to 168 lb or so.
Best I felt in all my life. Strangely, it feels easier to ride my bike...
I would not give up the C.stand or skid plate either. If this was strickly a road bike, then maybe..otherwise no..

Well it will be strictly a road bike for a while at least. Till my Hamstring is 100%. It only takes an hour to throw it all back on.

Recently I was planning on trading in my ST on a KTM 1190 Adv. R, but I changed my mind. I plan on keeping the Tenere forever, so I'm thinking once it gets a bit long in the tooth, I'll do some serious chopping. I'm going to remove the combined braking system, move the battery under the seat and remove all the fairings. Strip it down, put a dirtbike fender in the front and a number plate with a light. Try to shed as much weight as possible. Basically turn it into a big dirtbike.

short of removing the weight of the abs pump, I don't think you will save much by getting rid of two extra lines.
Last winter I went to an all steel braided line system (I needed higher bars). Jaume from Spain posted on his blog about a couple of guys removing the abs pump, but I really don't see the advantage.
The fairing will save a few pounds no doubt. But then you have to deal with all the plastic that's no longer there and deal with all the ugliness that is.

Honestly, the ST is great on gravel, and some technical bits, otherwise it will never be a dirt bike. Buy a ktm 690 second hand and keep the ST as is. my $0.02
