I`m thinking of buying a Leo Vince Titanium slip on.

I do not want a muffler that is too loud, will this one fit my criteria?

Any negatives?

Read somewhere 5% increase in power, optimistic?

Cheers.

I have one.

With no quiet core installed the muffler is LOUD. I mean raucous LOUD.

With the turn down installed, it is quieter but the turn down definitely restricts power.

With the non turn down quiet core installed, it is acceptable on both fronts in my opinion.

I doubt there is much more HP from the slip on alone. From the dyno charts I have see, the Arrow headers with proper tuning provide most of the gains.

For the same money as the LV ($550) you can buy the Arrow headers and a reflash if you really want power. If you want looks/sound, the LV is the right choice.

I do not really care too much about power but smoother engine and of course a bit better sound but without it being too loud.

Might get the Arrow headers in the future but at the moment just trying to smooth it out.

Sounds like I need the inserts in if I get a LV.

Got a LV full exhaust on my R1 and I like it. They seem to build high quality stuff.

I believe the exhaust comes with the inserts, so you can play around with it.

The quality is 2nd to none. The fit and finish on the ti can and cf end cap are impeccable.

Mine does rub on the plastic exhaust guard behind my heel, but I know I press heavily on that during riding.

Like ac said.. There are three "baffles" that come with the Leo and the customer can play around with them... If you don't mind loud(er) you can get the Arrow and save some cash... If you want a bit of performance with having the bike stay quiet that would be the Akrapovic... They probably all offer 'about' 2-3 hp on an other wise stock bike.......

Jaxon,

It comes with 3? What is the 3rd? I bought mine used from a fellow forum member and I didn't see a 3rd option in the box.

Just fitted a remus titanium bought from a member of this parish. Having owned a remus in the past though fitted to a 1150GSA I was worried it may be to loud (as the GS one was) so fitted with the DB killer. I've ended up removing it (dB killer ) as it was too quiet, it nows sound sweet and probably no louder than my 900superlight which is fruity on the stock cans (Italian 90's interpertations of silencing regs seemed to differ to Jap bikes).

It seems like the Leo is the way to go, Remus could be a candidate for its quietness but since I got good experience with the LV brand I might get one if I can get it for a reasonable price, this bike can be farkled unlimited and I`m already getting over my budget, happy my ms has not checked yet what is going on but she certainly will discover if I get a new can.....

Also, did anyone notice if it ran smoother after installed their slip on?
That is the main reason why I would fork out more money, power is adequate and if I need insane power I just jump onto the XT`s stablemates. I think 90 RWHP is good enough on dirt roads and along the HWY.

Clearly, quiet is in the ear of the beerholder, but I don't think it is loud at all. I have stock exhaust on most of my bikes, and the non-stock ones are not loud. I am not a fan of loud bikes.

I have been very impressed with the improvements that it made in how the bike runs. I have not made any other changes and it is much smoother, pulls harder and is WAAAAY lighter. I am running without the turn-down and am surprised at how unloud it is. The sound is nice and round, not sharp or flatulent like some big twins. I say go for it.

I have the LV carbon and am very satisfied. It's louder than stock but not by much. It's the sound quality that's better. All traces of sewing machine sounds are gone. Smoother? Maybe, due to somewhat better breathing from the "flow through" design. IMO, it looks 1000% better and saves weight. It all adds up to a no-brainer especially at Jaxon's super sale price of a few months ago. I added a carbon shield with the money I saved and totally did away with the stock muffler and shield.

I have one, it's OK.

If you are out whacking on it it is loud but not tear your head off loud. Two Brothers can do that if that's your thing, but GAWD that was a sexy pipe! I miss it and don't all at the same time.

I have the down turn in to save on my riding buds. I never saw an internal flush, the disc was a waste of time. I put it in, sound level increased over time along with a buzzing noise. Pulled the pipe and the disc was out of place, folded over and ......

I've found it to be a great sound. Just a tad louder than stock but just enough so others can tell this ain't your momma's 1200. I haven't felt the bike is any smoother. As far as power, it might bump it a couple of hp, but thats just a side benefit.

Those talking about the sound and "loud" level really need to clarify what condition you have the pipe in.

I rode around with NO db killer (disc/flush core/turn down) for a few days. I had multiple people tell me the bike was ridiculously loud as I got on the throttle to take off, at WOT and during decel. The pipe without a db killer is basically straight through. It is LOUD by anyone's definition. Trust me, it is louder OFF the bike than to the rider.

With the turn down it was definitely quieter, almost as quiet as stock. I wasn't a huge fan of the look, and the sound had some weirdness to me. It just wasn't "clean".

The flush core is just about right. There is definitely some growl. No complaints yet.

Flush core... I guess that is the way it came, and the way I have run it. Didn't think about or attempt to take that out. Very mild increase above stock the way it came out of the box, IMHO.

I run the flush as you can see in the pic above. I think it sounds just right, and the people I have ridden with said they could only hear it when I really got on it. At idle and cruising down the freeway the sound level is compatible to the stock can.
