My boy has a 690,,, we traded the other day [back when it was warm][I can ride it any time I want] and he said my WR250R was a better touring bike than his. I agreed. I liked my bike better. He has more power no doubt but that's not everything.
He also has a 990R better dirt bike than the Tenere but I wouldn't trade for one of them, no way Jose. My wife said if we had a 990 instead of the Tenere she wouldn't be going anywhere with me. The Tenere is just a bike I can get on and ride all day then get up and do it the next day, I never get tired of this bike.
I'm getting around to thinking that a Tenere and a KTM 690 in the garage would be a good mix. But I'm also interested in the CCM 450 Adventure.

I guess I need a decent winning lottery ticket. ::025::

I don't quite get this and see this quite a lot on various forums.

I have a four seater car, but rarely are all four seats being used. Is this wasted on me? The same car can do 120 miles an hour, it rarely goes over 80......wasted on me?

My iPhone has 3 GB of memory that I never use...........You really don't have to use what you choose to buy, to its maximum, just nice to have a bit of excess there for as and when you require it. ::008::

Regards

I'm off to the garage to pull out my other three seats. ::025::

Just got a 690, awesome machine, but long distance (just did 220km) the vibrations (visit dentist to replace fillings) do get to you. When I get back on the sten, it is plush, like where is the climate control.

But, in its defence, not fit distance, in its place, you will grin, a lot.

Maintenance, yes, I know I am in for it, that is what ktm stands for, "kry tools meneer" = fetch tools mister.

Am I happy, yes, very much. Would I buy one without having the sten, no.

Friend of mine got this not long ago and we went riding about two weeks ago. Beautiful bike, but strangely enough I'm not tempted in the least. I'm still very pleased with the Tenere.

Prior to to the ST, I had an A990. It was an awesome machine to ride, until you got back to the garage. It never left me stranded but I also never gave it the chance to do so. It seemed I spent as much time working on the thing as I did riding it.

Finally after an oil leak, I had enough. If I wanted a Harley, I would have bought one, so I traded it for and ST. I have been so happy with my ST, I had to consolidate, and sold my Victory.

I do lust after the A1190, just not sure if I want to deal with all the KTM nuisances.

I know that guy. And he is a pretty practical fella. (relatively speaking)
Orange will be very very tempting though. I fear for that guy. :)

My new Klim Badlands Pro (HiViz) jacket arrives this week (after a loooong backorder) at the local orange dealer. They have one of these 1190R's in their demo fleet and I plan to ride the crap out of it when I am in there to get the jacket. I have no plans to get rid of the SuperTen, I just want to see what all the hullaballoo is all about. They also have a 1200GSW in the demo fleet so I might have to ride both of them so I can get back-to-back comparisons on the three large ADV bikes.
