Never got on a bike that I didn't look forward to the next few minutes.

Never got off a bike and wanted the last few minutes back.

2-wheels was a formula devised in heaven to lure me. I have never even made an effort to treat my addiction. :)

I own both a KTM and my Tenere...

I have a 2012 KTM 690 Enduro R. Now, let me explain...

Tenere

Like having a katana. great do-it-all item. Gotta rough it up, it's there. Gotta distance to cover, it's your companion. Need to show up looking good, it'll work. Need to shave, ditto. Need to chop down a coconut in a far off land, no problem.

Enduro R

IT. IS. THE. NUCLEAR. OPTION. Press the button, shit happens. FAST. Want to wheelie like a hoon simply by thinking of it in your office, the Enduro R is out there doing one-wheel donuts waiting for you to arrive. Delta doesn't offer a short haul flight to a nearby town, no worries, point the Enduro R at anything...ANYTHING, and it'll take flight. Lands better than Brad Pitt at the AVNs. really want to piss of your neighbors, no problem, the KTM is distinctly on board. Want to beat the earth into submission while wondering if you DO, in fact, look at good as that hero on xBox, yet, the KTM has it covered. It's so over designed for most tasks thrown at it, it simply laughs at commuting and asks to be woken up when you approach a cliff, whereupon it'll simply scale it like a goat. No matter how much I don't ride my KTM because of the added comfort of the Tenere, the Enduro R is the one I spend time looking at each time I walk into the garage - the design and details are simply top flight. Components, outrageously top end.

...and yeah, it costs more to run, is less forgiving and requires me to ride better - totally fine for me, as sometimes I do like to pretend to be a super hero. :)

Love that post sportsguy. ::008::
That pretty much sums up the difference between the Tenere and just about any KTM. I'm no Superman, but I do love that orange Kool-Aid. ::26::

You did a great job.

KTM's are there for riders with the skills to appreciate them. ::024::
I don't really have the skills yet, but I'm tryin'! :D

I'll have to retract my prior post of the guy with the new 1190ADV that didn't start twice and needed tow back to the dealer. Operator error, I guess the bike comes with normal keys as well as a special service key and he was using the service key instead of the normal ones, resulting in the no start. Anyway, I like KTM and would love to have that new 1190ADV, but the Tenere is still I think the more logical choice over the long term.
OK, so I'm going to do some calling out on this one...

Brave choice to post up about the error Ron. Most people would simply let it float and ignore the thread. Commendable choice, IMO, you made by offering to straighten a slightly bent record here. Speaks to character. I'd ride with ya. :)

Holy crap! He was passing those other guys anywhere anytime, inside, outside, it didn't matter. 200kph wheelies? Are you kidding me?

KTM's should come with an orange cape. As sportsguy pointed out, they make you feel like a super hero every time you throw a leg over one. I love my Tenere, but it is more utilitarian and doesn't bring the passion of the KTM's I've owned.

HAHA, yea its a beast. Also those guys on the track are most likely weekend warrior track day guys. The guy on the KTM has raced in Moto GP.

Confession here as well regarding KTM.

I have no desire to sell my Tenere, but I am in need of a smaller bike like the 690e. I looked long and hard at the 690's in 2011 and then decided on the Tenere. It was the right decision at that time. Now I need something smaller to compliment the 1200 beast and since Yamaha won't help us out with something in this class and size ............... ::010::

By this time next year ::015:: I'll have a 690 and "all that goes with it" to zip around on - dammit Yamaha.

My boy has a 690,,, we traded the other day [back when it was warm][I can ride it any time I want] and he said my WR250R was a better touring bike than his. I agreed. I liked my bike better. He has more power no doubt but that's not everything.
He also has a 990R better dirt bike than the Tenere but I wouldn't trade for one of them, no way Jose. My wife said if we had a 990 instead of the Tenere she wouldn't be going anywhere with me. The Tenere is just a bike I can get on and ride all day then get up and do it the next day, I never get tired of this bike.
