I have a growing problem whenever (*and whatever*) I ride.

Generally my nose itches to the point of rubbing it through my 1-piece full face helmet.

Rubbing my nose isn't even close BTW - more like "I need to cut my nose off RIGHT FRIGGIN' NOW.!!!"

I have cut/plucked every hair in the location of the "tickle". Sometimes that works for a bit - but then....THERE IT GOES AGAIN.!!

I've tried smoothing chapstik on my nose and other stuff but nothing much works other than plucking the hair outta there.

Does anybody else have this phenomenon happen too??

Give me your fixes....I await choo.

::026:: You are not alone. Mine nose itches too though from the sound of it not as extreme. Something to do w/ vibration. Did it when riding my Shadow and Versys and now the Tenere. Twin thing? Don't have a fix.

Lifting my visor just enough to get a gloved finger inside and scratch my nose.......
Been a issue 1000 times. Never thought to ask about it.
Hope I don't hate the answers you get. :)

That's some funny chit right there! Never would have thought to ask others but mine does that too! More like an annoying tickle from a nose hair or two flopping around. Has only happened on the S-10 and not my other bikes, and only seems to happen at steady speeds usually in the 60-80 mph range. Bothersome as hell...LOL

I'm trading mine in for a GS if I sneeze one more time in my helmet.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I find the itch usually to be more topical than inside the nostril. I suspect airflow inside the helmet coupled with vibration in general oscillates the follicles (nose hairs) and makes the tip of my nose itch. Doesn't happen all that often, but damned distracting when does.

My treatment is anti-itch cream. Seems like, once you get sensitive to the phenomenon, it gets worse, so get the cream on early - before the ride or at the first sign of itching.

About sneezing in a full-face helmet, please stick your fingers inside the helmet, through the visor opening as if you were grabbing the chin bar, and sneeze on the back of your fingers. This way, you don't spread the goo with your finger tips and your fingers dry off in the breeze while your hands are on the grips. That my friends, is your motorcycling tip of the day ::024::

Next week, we can discuss itchy ears.

I don't have itchy ears, but I sure have the itchy nose syndrome (I.N.S.). I too have never thought to post a question about it. I just open my visor, scratch it and ride on. But while we're having confession...the tips of my glove fingers get black from operating the clutch and the black often gets rubbed off on my nose while riding with INS. I am usually unaware of the problem until my wife, who frequently rides with me, points out the problem. Does anyone else experience this? :-[

The dreaded sneazing in the helmet! LOL What a friggin drag. My nose itches sometimes too but not too often. I creep open the shield and slip a finger in to sooth it but like I said it's not often. I recon it's the wind swirling around in the helmet. Do you run a chin curtain?

The Tenere is the first bike that I've owned in a long time where this hasn't been an issue. I think it is directly linked to wind management and I have that all sorted out on my bike and my helmet (NOJ Quiet rider). No nose issues here ::012::

Can't wait to tell my allergist.
He's running out of ideas. I was kinda feeling bad for him as he lost his confidence.

He'll be so relieved.

And I get a new helmet to boot!

Ya, it happens to me as well. not bike specific. I blame in on an air stream under the chin that tickles the nose hair. Not an issue typically.

What bothers me at times is when you eyes start to water from the same thing - a small air stream drying out the eye ball. That's a pain in the @ss.

sniffing in some water with baking soda or rinsing your nasal passages with it will take care of allergies. Washing eyes with baking soda will take care of the eye allergies. soda is alkaline. just make sure it's aluminum free baking soda. red mills brand is aluminum free. I always carry a small container with baking soda. You can even alkalize water with it and use this natural miracle if you had too much acidic food. just don't drink it after you eat, wait a couple of hours.
Organic peppermint oil clears out clogged nasal passages in a second. It is sold in tiny amber bottles, easy to carry in your pocket. Take a small dab and wipe under your nose.
Burt's Bees lip balm under the nose also helps keep nasal passages clear and sinuses calm.
Allergies mean there is an inflammation. It could come from pollution in the air or food as well. Stay away from processed and GMO foods which may be challenging on longer trips.

Interesting natural remedies for such an unusual condition for bike riders. ;D (itchy nose remedies) :D
Not that it matters much, but my understanding is that typically Baking "SODA" does not contain aluminum, but Baking "POWDER" can depending on the materials used to produce it.

So...I guess we've coined a new acronym = INS

That's always a good sign - to first identify the problem.

I've tried all the suggested things : Burt's Bees, etc.

I have yet to try the non-itch creme though.

I'll do that next.

pure bicarbonate should not have aluminum, but impure might. this did make noise some time ago, so many manufacturers have gone the pure route since. food grade hydrogen peroxide, diluted to 0.005% concentration sprayed in the air and inhaled will also work wonders for the sinuses. just make sure your eyes are closed.

Don't have the itch problem, but I haved noticed that this bike has a swirl of air right under my helment and I can really notice it when it's cold. Never had this on any other bike. Seems to be the front design. The gap under the headlight everyone talks about lets a lot of air blow through up by the bars and under my helment. Very annoying when cold.
