Is this S10 a good deal?

I just bought a brand new 2012 for $12,854 out the door including 7 percent sales tax. They had a 2012 demo with 987 miles they offered me for $11,900 out the door but I decided I wanted the new one so I would know when the maintenance was done and what the bike had been through. This dealer had told me they had 5 2012's in stock, so I
knew they would be willing to deal. Don't know how that stacks up to what others are seeing, but these bikes are definitely selling new way below list. I even found a dealer with 3 new white 2013's for 11,700 before sales tax, it was out of my state so I would have had to pay the tax when I registered it. I did not want white so I went with the black 2012.

Well I still haven't pulled the trigger on the bike. The dealer lowered the price to $8799 (not OTD though :(). However I was thinking about my test ride on it.

I only got to ride around a deserted mall parking lot and got into third gear once, but there seemed to be a particular RPM range where the bike seemed to pick-up in vibration. It wasn't a high RPM, a little after the bike got going. Coming off of my inline-four FZ6, it seemed very harsh. But I've never ridden any other bike before, so I don't know if this vibration is normal for a parallel twin.

Can anyone comment on whether this vibration I was feeling is normal? Remember, the bike has 25k miles.
Great Scott, _ _ _! You still haven't bought that thing, yet?

About that vibration, there are some engines with pronounced vibes in the 3000RPM range. People claim the clutch basket is to blame and are diligently working to resolve it. If the throttles need "synched" it could produce an imbalance resulting in increased vibrations. I've read that a Flash of the ECU will smooth things out, too. Whatever, the thing is this engine will never be as silky smooth as an inline 4 (nor as buzzy). At the same time, the vibes shouldn't be intrusive through the bars, seat or pegs. You should feel more vibes while accelerating but then smooth out as you hold steady throttle.

I came from a Honda 750 nighthawk and was worried about the Tenere having more vibration and noise, but I think it is quieter and just as smooth as the inline 4. Maybe you should see if you can find a local Yamaha dealer that will let you test ride a new one and compare the vibrations to the used one.
