Is anyone regularly hitting or breaking 200 miles or more per tank?

Rode to San Francisco Wednesday with round trip of 190 miles and 4.7 gallons to refill. Not good at 40.4 mpg. Riding the freeway too close to 4,000 rpms where the gas mileage drops off quickly. I could have easily made 230 miles with .7 of a gallon remaining.

You all might want to use a GPS or factor in for the optimistic speedo/odo readings that the Yamaha gages give you...like 5%-8% off.

Unlike their owners who are typically 98% optimistic about the whole bike. Except for the handlebars and the seat and the suspension and clutch mod and wheels and the lights and windscreen and...

I usually get around 190/200 miles until the reserve starts flashing, only ever done another 30 miles on reserve but I would guess there's about 40/50 miles in there.
So depending on temperature and how hard I ride it, about 230/250 miles to a tank is where i'm at

I went on a trip last year to Canada. I put on 3313 miles used 71.36 gals of gas and got 46.43 mpg. Now if you minus it by 7% ( thats about how far my speedo is off by) you get 3096 miles @ 43.39 mpg. Not that bad over all.

That could be I never have checked it. I just know the speedo is off so I would think the miles are off also.

Speed and mileage are not hard wired to each other. No reason to use one to figure out the other.
Tolerances are independent.

I ended up pushing the range on my S10 and ended up calling my insurance for roadside assistance to get some more fuel! I went 240 miles, before the bike said it had enough of the fumes and wanted something more substantial.

Light usually goes on between 180 and 190 miles. I routinely hit 210 to 220 before I fill it up.

I now carry a full 1 gallon container for my piece of mind.

Yes....200 is no problem. 220 is pushing it, but, I've never put more than five gallons in it even after going 30 or 40 miles into the Blinking "Feed Me" light.... ::021:: This is not adjusted for Odo, or Speedo error.

Hit 221 yesterday with a little to spare, all highway 75-80mph with my Excel Throttle Control/ cruise control on the whole trip.

My average MPG is right at 37/38mpg, high (one time) was 46mpg. Low was 36mpg, I ride like a jerk most of the time, Sport/clutch mod/TC off--front wheel in the air, banging the rev limiter, back tire skipping around on downshifts.... New rear tire at 1900 miles..lol
I like to have fun when I ride, it could be my last ride..

I really could care less what MPG I get, I'm more concerned with the SPG (smiles per gallon) ::024::

Ride fast, take chances don't worry about MPG!

Caveat - I like to keep my driver's license so I don't hot rod as much as I would like.

so the Fuel countdown must start before 1 gallon left... probably 1.5ish?
I suspect there is some variance between bikes. Not sure how much of a variance, but mine comes on earlier than most report. I just haven't run it dry to confirm I have a little extra as a result.

I think this sensor is a float on an arm? Like the old school toilet float? If so, by design it can vary some in my opinion.

I did 220 miles (350 km) before the fuel indicator started to flash, managed my lowest so far that time with 5 l/100km but that was with a very careful throttle hand and not above 100 km/h (measured).

Maybe one day I can manage better figure than that but got no idea so far how to do that without having a boring time, noticed that stop and start riding is disastrous for the fuel economy on this bike.

Still ok for a 1200 cc large bike.
