Ah, OK, so that'll be emissions regulations for the ECU I suppose in NA then?Checkswrecks said:The American ECUs run leaner than the 2010 First Editions that I was able to ride in Europe.
The top case mounting developed cracks in the very first run of bikes. DCStrom said it was found by the South African owners, but I also heard about it from an Irishman and found this quote regarding a letter to 800 French owners:
Yamaha is recalling its 2010 Super Teneres to replace the top case support. Bikes with serial number DP012 000301 to DP012 001101 are affected.
I have no idea how many actually had problems or specifically where. Again, this was a long time before the release of the 2012 bikes (North America) and Yamaha appears to have addressed it.
The top case mounting issue was nothing to do with the subframe. You are correct in your reply, it was the plastic top box/luggage rack mounting plate - I had mine changed - it just has a reinforced metal stiffener bar running along it now.
