LOL, as soon as I saw that photo of the desert-crashed S10 sporting those Mitas E07 tires, I pictured a former forum member suddenly sitting bolt upright like he'd experienced a disturbance in the Force....

LOL, and I was looking at it thinking that if it had Pilot Road 5's on it, (since I've been saying for years that it makes almost no difference what tires you have on the big pig offroad) there would have been fifty posts claiming that was the only reason he crashed.

I also run the ACD. Be sure to change out upper bolts for studs, it makes maintenance much easier. There is a tendency to cross thread upper bolts when trying to put things back together. I took this advice from someone and my buddy who also has a S10 did not. He has regrets. This picture is after first install. Skid plate is now bedlinered black and some what beat up. Boy do I like that stud idea! That is something in my future. I had to be real careful about threading in the bolts and was scared the whole time!

I see you're in Dahlonega. Almost every time we are in Georgia (Rasaca) we start our day with breakfast at Papa's Place. Then head north or east

its not the bike its the owner that's the problem ... pretty bike lots of side protection but nothing underneath ... once you fix the problem you will start liking the bike ...

While i dont off road my machine as a toy or a dirt bike i do explore and wind up in hairy situations at times. So mostly my bike is for daily use and i try to take care of it for the long run. With that being said my drive way at times is as bad as any bdr route. I have had rocks flip up and pick me and the bike up off the ground. I have has several hits that mashed the skid pan and a couple that have crushed the oil filter. Mind you im trying to watch out for the machine. Things just happen. I cant imagine any machine being advertized as dual sport ADV or off road with out a frame and strong protection under it. I cant believe i have not busted this engine. If i rode it like my dirt bike i dont think it would last a day.

What is the torque spec for the upper bolts there that you mounted the front of the skid plate to? Looking through the manual, and can’t find anything there….

From memory I believe it is 52. I will go check to be sure. I'll be back soon...

I bought a couple bolts 3 1/2 inches and a 12mm by1.25 tap and made the studs. They are about 2 inches longer than the bolts. With everything removed u I put the cut end into the engine with some loctite making sure not to bottom it out. Been good for five years or more.
