Congrats on the new granddaughter. I have two of them and one grandson. He's 8 and likes to ride dirt bikes with me. Like you said...life is good

Thanks for the report Snake. Though we have never met I feel like I know you and was relieved when I saw both you and Silver Bullet were far away when Harvey hit. Congratulations on the new grandbaby!

I'm sitting in the waiting room, "waiting", for the birth of "Brenda Sunshine Lambert", my 3rd grandchild.

All is well with the world, as I choose to see it. :)
Great name, and great outlook on life. Congrats on the new addition to the family.

planning a ride for this weekend down to the coast to see what we can see . will not try and go into areas that may be restricted , but will ride till someone says stop.... try and spend a few dollars some where there to help the economy ..... I have been told port Aransas is devastated , no places to eat.... probably will not go there but will see..... I will give a report on the October first.....

Port Aransas is my coastal GO-TO spot along this long and vast Texas coast. By far my favorite culture-atmosphere.

So it is a real bummer that it is not likely to be able to provide those special weekends this fall.
But it will be back! It has ample infrastructure and tourist attractiveness to warrant the re-build.

My little town farther East is slowly returning to normal. You have to venture down the "back streets" to still see the real damage. Neighborhoods are still lined with rubble piles and folks are still being fed with church and local business sponsored food trucks and such. It's really quite inspiring to watch the tireless volunteer efforts going on, long after the cameras have left.

I always knew Brenda and I made a good choice 20 years ago when we moved our little family of misfits here to raise them AWAY from the Big City.
Times like this just add further evidence.

If you decide to go later and it is AFTER this disgusting humidity has run its course, I might just rendezvous with ya.
I'd like to see just what IS available for weekend visits to the island. I too would be happy to leave a few $bucks with my restaurant friends.

I've been home now more than a couple of weeks. I am MISERABLE being caged in air-conditioning. The whole reason I enjoy the "tinyhouse" lifestyle is because indoors is for sleeping and reading.
I am fighting off the urge to run away! (My kids would KILL me right now)

I also hate this happened to Port A. It's my favorite get away place. Planning on riding down there with my wife when/if it ever cools off. She is a fair weather only passenger. LOL.

Ahhhh JMZ has exactly the VIEW I'm talking about!

Hauling the little toy hauler might rob me of a few miles of ADVing along coastal Highway 35, but once I get parked, duplicating that nice breezy campsite pictured above, I'll ride whatever I hauled for the time I'm there.

Just hoping Fins Grill and Taqueria San Juan are open for dining.

We call taqueria San juan , amigos , because the owner is always running around calling everyone amigo. LOL. I have a 8k diesel generator with a homemade 35 gallon fuel tank I put on the back of the truck when we go down there . I could probably stay a week if I wanted to .

Signatures ??? we don't need no stinking signatures !!!
