What the trick? I remove all the visible hex fasteners and the plastic ones on the fork side but the rad cover seems to be attached to the upper painted air intake cover. What's the trick to removing the cover?

I did a google and youtube search to no avail.. Thanks for your help.

I think what you are forgetting are the two "pop rivets" on the inside portion of the fender. Two little black rivets, press down in the center of them and they should release and slide out. You will need to "reset" them by pulling that center portion back out before you place them back into the plastics. Press in on that center portion till it is flush and that will lock them in place again.

Buy a SHOP MANUAL!!!

Seriously... a shop manual costs the equivalent of one hour shop labor but is priceless as well as essential if you want to do anything more than clean your bike.
I know forums like these are very helpful and there is a wealth of knowledge on almost anything related to the bike in question, but a shop manual is just like wearing a helmet, you may never need it, but when you do, you sure feel like an idiot for not having one.

Where should I look for a factory manual? I'm not worried about the price as long as I can get an official one. Not interested in "knock offs" or pirated copies. My local dealer can't sell motorcycles (not sure they know what they are!) let alone order something they don't have in stock. Thanks for any direction.

My yamahapubs manual does not have the same binding as that $40 manual. Maybe they changed the binding, but I doubt it.

I was confused with these until I realized how hard you have to press the middle, especially on new ones. Press harder and then they pop in about an 8th inch. The picture in the manual doesn't help with this aspect of the quick connector operation. I was further confused when I saw the ones in the right side cover (ES model) actually had a Phillips head which a quarter turn released.
