Hey Carrot,

The manual states to drain coolant from the waterpump drain plug (the one with the crush washer) and to remove the overflow reservior to extract any coolant from it. Getting that puppy out will not be fun so find a length of tubing and a syringe of some sort to extract the overflow. No mention of "burping" the system and I didn't notice any type of plug in the head to assist in removing any trapped air. Good luck with yours, let Us know how it turned out.

No, Prestone will Not work. You need true motorcycle rad fluid made for aluminum rads. get it at the bike shop. ::001::

Because cars suddenly have inefficient steel radiators?

Any non silicate antifreeze should work, choose a color you like. I use the Honda HP Coolant, easy to find and convenient.

If you don't purchase a premix you need to start another thread on the pros and cons of using distilled water. :))

+1 I know Ducati had a recall on 2010 Multi, the coolant they were using was eating through the heads, they lost some motors

I use a heavy duty truck / diesel coolant. They have been low silicate since before it was popular, and they can be had PH balanced premix. Works really well for long term performance.

Me personally, I use Fleetguard Complete premix, which is among the best, but then I get an employee discount.

You can burp the system by starting the bike with the rad cap off and bliping the throttle a few times. We have a side mounted rad which helps in this. After that, add more if you need, put the cap on and install side covers.
