How many have received the new Clutch basket and what do you think?

What do I think? As probably one of the last ones to squeak through the pricing error, I'd say I got a new bike for $40!

Seriously, the mod is as good as they say, and it creates a seamlessly smooth engine character (there before, just being mucked up by the rattly basket!). The install was easy, but I would definitely recommend the EBC tool over the generic vice grip style clutch basket holder I got from RMATV. It would flex and pop off until I broke out the impact wrench. Luckily it held while torquing to spec.

New nut, but was able to reuse the gasket with no rips.

I was really surprised to see solid dowels used for case alignment and not sleeves. No wonder she's such a heavy girl!

Did mine yesterday left it in gear with rear brake applied with no problem to re torquing.

The old basket absorbed the larger impulses of the cylinder firings, where this one does not. So, you get a more instantaneous tire slip, which causes a different reaction. Its like being a wet grass but with the traction of pavement, meaning it is far too aggressive and feels like the bike will come apart. I could usually get the front wheel to hang out crossing a divided highway in TC1, now TC2 seems to be the only way to get that effect without the bike feeling like it will destroy itself bike snapping power on and off. Try to get wheel slip, or get the front wheel to come off the ground with this new basket and tell me that it isn't crazy aggressive.

Hmm...I hadn't really noticed a difference. Maybe I need to try harder.

Generally, when I am considering trying to get wheel spin or pull wheelies I will put the bike in TCS2 or TCS Off.

I'll try a wheelie cresting the hill on my driveway tomorow. Maybe I'll try a few pavement jumps I know on the way home from work too.

Someone else, I don't remember who it was, complained that their clutch started slipping on hard acceleration after the new basket was installed. I never read if they found the cause, but could that be what's happening? Just throwing that out as something else to rule out...

That is how my 2013 has worked in TC1 since it was new.

its not just the removal of a harmonic vibration, whole different clutch design. And mine didn't operate like this. TC2 works as normal, or at least what I remember, but tc1 is silly. I think if I had the software to do a reflash, I would rewrite the tcs with tc2 as my tc1, and tc2 a touch more agressive.

I guess I'll keep TC off, and go with TC2 as usual. Wonder if the wheelies will be better ::015::

Not sure what could be causing what you describe Autoteach, I'm not experiencing the same thing with mine. I'll go ahead and ask, everything reassembled properly?

I had the 2014 clutch basket installed today. Total cost out the door was $36.69, Yamaha picked up the labor. The dealer's service mgr said mine was the worst he had ever experienced. Said it was horrible. I guess that's why Yama picked up the labor, that and it's still under new bike warranty. I guess the best way to describe it is if I knew how much of a difference it would make, I would definitely have paid full price to have it done. I didn't notice any changes in shifting or the TC. Very pleased with the end result!

Nope, put it together wrong. Is that how I am supposed to do it?

Guessing your bike was still under warranty to get that price.
