Than something is up with my front wheel. Sounds like the rotor/pads are rubbing. Pads look ok and rotors do not look warped. Bike has a bit over 11K on the clock, perhaps the calipers/pads need to be cleaned. I was planning on changing out the brake fluid this month since it has not been done since I bought the bike in June ‘18 with about 7 and change on the clock.Just like it's on a balancing stand. There should be no drag at all.
Agreed, there would normally be some light drag from the brake pads, it will spin much more freely on a balancing stand or with the calipers removed.I wouldnt think it should free spin like on a balancing stand. Too much friction with the torque and brake pads. It shouldnt be binding and be hard to spin but shouldnt free spin either.
when my Tenere is parked on the centerstand the front wheel is resting on the ground, it can be turned backwards easy enough but nothing like Chris claims and you won’t be able to turn it forward unless you lift the wheel off the ground first or push the entire bike So both wheels are turning.Quick question;

Grease on brakes, what a great ideaI grease my axle and caliper pins so there is no brake drag or axle binding.
I grease my axles to prevent them from getting stuck. I like the ability to pull my axles out without having to pound with a hammer.I always install my axles dry..........The wheel does not rotate on the Axle. It rotates on the inner bearing races. The Axle only lines everything up.

Easy check. Front wheel in the air, is the front wheel spinning freely, not completely without any resistance, but still easy to turn.
If it’s not, remove the calipers and hook them out of the way, try again. If now spinning freely then you know it’s the calipers.
You can then put them back on and remove one at a time to see if one is particularly causing a problem.
Perhaps it is not as bad as I initially thought, what do you folks think?Any recent or long ago front end work on the moto that might have included removing the forks or adjusting triple tree?
A possible alignment issue if that could bind things up a bit.
Per Boris's post immediately above an alignment issue could cause caliper drag but not the reverse.
Possibly a long term confound that you are just finding.
Had an issue on one of my previous motos after a tire and brake pad update where I also changed the fork fluids. Thought all was aligned and well, 1k miles later and during a wash I gave the front wheel a spin and figured out she was bound up, quick adjust on triple tree and it freed up.
