It's harder than it looks to carry her flowers home in one hand while riding the motorcycle.

Hide your motorcycle behind her car. When she backs out, she will run it over. Problem solved.

Sounds like you are ok, that's a bonus... I'm with the others, wanting to know more detail of said incident and the obligatory photos are a must to sustain credibility. That being said, me thinks honesty is the best policy (lies have to have very long memories) since you never know how any well meaning crafted piece of fiction might be received. You may induce more anxiety on her part each and every time you go riding in the future. - Just sayin...

Yes.

I'm confused ... since when did telling the wife anything enter into the equation? ::005::

I didn't tell her when I bought it, why would I tell her when I toast it? ::26::

I can tell you how not to do it.

When I totalled my first Super Tenere at the end of 2010, I rang my wife from the hospital. I did wait till the docs had stabilised me so it wouldn't be panic stations at least.

She then called the right people (some fellow club members) to get the bike and gear picked up and brought home.

Bungy cords can work, if she takes the view that it's the thought that counts. ;D

I'd suggest something like:
"Honey, I made a bone headed move and wrecked my brand new bike, but I'm fine and the bike can be repaired."

Seriously, this could work. Who ever looks behind when they're backing out of the garage?

No gutz, no glory! Tell he what happened then ask her to take pics of the bike so you can post them to the forum. That way she can buy into the educational process and you can achieve 'knarly adventurer' status at the same time. 8) 8) ::26::

::026:: Man up, take responsibility for your actions and admit that you crashed because you screwed up. Then tell her how happy you are that the gear you wore did it's job and protected you, and, (if applicable), the farkles you put on the bike kept it from being worse, or, (if lacking crash items), that you really wished you'd have spent the money for said farkles before crashing and seeing for your self how much $$ they could have saved you.

Then consider if you need to ride a pretty bike, or a functional bike? If the latter, get an estimate from the dealer and talk to your agent. If not, straiten what needs it, replace what you have to, wash the dirt off and go ride.

If the wife is the type that freaks out a bit, you probably can't read the forum from the dog house or hospital, so this thread is pointless. After she calms down, consider Spot, Medjet and/or better gear and the reality that you aren't getting any younger or healing any faster, and share these thoughts with her.
