Made a bone headed move and wrecked my brand new bike. Suprisingly, damage is minimal after flipping the bike. But the question is how to break the news to wife that I just wrecked my brand new motorcycle?

Ya see....there is a trick to it. But it takes some diligence. First, low side on an older bike a couple times to warm her up.....then, come home with a few parts in your backpack/trailer that should be attached to the bike, but are no longer.....

Then ya roll the new bike up into a ball...She will be numb to fact that you wreck and will just go on about her day...

don't ask me how i know this ::)

Tell her you were forced of your bike by armed robbers and when they rode off they flipped it and ran off.
You then decided to think of her future and not get involved and make her a widow despite your basic instincts to intervene.
Needless to say you were blinded with rage and fear and would not be able to identify the masked gunmen and knew that the police would not be able to do so either so decided not to report it to the police.

Or you could just bite the bullet and tell her straight and take your beating and silent treatment like a real man ya wussy. ;)

I have a spare tent if it all goes real bad !

Did you irreparably wreck it, or is it just scuffed up?

For irreparably wrecked, I would say "Honey, I totalled the bike today. Don't worry, it's insured, and I'm fine."

Scuffed up: I would say "I made a mistake while riding the bike today, and scuffed it up a bit. Everything will be fine, but it will save a bunch of money in the future if I install some aftermarket crashbars, bash plate, handlebar risers, panniers.... (any other farkles "necessary") so that the bike is better protected if this ever happens again." ::025::

Sorry to hear about your get off..
I have always found it worked out best to tell the truth, but sugar coat a little.
Something like, had a little problem with the bike today, but I'm fine, no really I'm fine but thanks for asking.. :)

You crashed while avoiding an orphan in a crosswalk after exiting a blood donation center. Simple really.

Sorry to hear about your out-of-motorcycle experience. I think sail2xxs has the right idea about a lot of extra farkles being very helpful in the future, all for safety of course. Hope none of the damage is too serious.

Tell her you were daydreaming about her and next thing you know you were crashed on the side of the road. It's important to practice this in the mirror beforehand to achieve the proper level of sincerity...channel John Belushi in the Blues Brothers tunnel scene.

Good luck!

go home in a very foul mood, tell her someone backed over your bike. the more damage, the bigger the truck...or be honest and risk never riding again.

It wouldn't be the first bike I wrecked and probably wont be the last. Show her who's boss. Now in our house we have a don't ask don't tell policy about guns, motorcycles, shoes and purses. I don't ask about hers she doesn't ask about mine.

Tell her that a woman was was texting on her phone while driving the larger than life SUV and turned in front of you without signalling. Believable story for sure.
