I just wish we could travel there (China) without having to sort out an escort.

Would this be our first China Correspondent?
Looking forward to the Rides and photo's from over there 8)
Judging by what you are saying there doesn't seem to be any S10 copies yet. :D
haha, well no copies of that super10 here yet and unlikely to be as most motorcycle manufacturers here don't have the required certificates to manufacture anything above 249cc. Some of you might be aware of the recent alleged MP3 clone seized at the EICMA show. To me nothing unexpected there as Piaggio started selling the MP3 250 on the mainland market earlier this year so it was likely only a matter of time. As for mainland China correspondent, well lets say that I am pretty vocal on My China Moto dot com (MCM) and ADV rider, though the latter I go by a different name. If one mosies on over to the MCM or ADVrider websitse one can get a lot of my reports and photos of my rides especially MCM since I am active as hell there. Here - not so much since I have been waiting on the side lines for my chance to get a Super10, and this site is dedicated to that creed.

I'm fortunate that I have lived here now for 10 years or so, and am living in a province (same as a state) blessed with numerous mountainous ranges, and lots of villages. Gives it a more of an authentic feel. Oh, and circumnavigated OZ twice while working my way round... now just looking to get a few things squared away before getting my hands on my new-to-me Super10. If I do go to OZ to take delivery of the new baby, I will be trying to look a few of the OZ crowd up.

I hear you. Have a mate here who bought 3 Land Rover Defenders in Europe, had them modified to the hilt at great expense, arranged Carnets for them all, and came with a few other vehicles including a late model MAN 4x4 truck complete with mobile home conversion on the back. The arranged all necessary visas and entries for vehicles and participants and then drove overland from Germany/Switzerland to China. Even he has lived and started a business in China more than 16+ years, he had to have a guide from the Chinese border the entire time. At the end of the trip and before he was meant to exit the vehicles out of China, he did what he needed to do to get two of the Land Rovers imported legally into China. Can't say much more than that.
With a few of the Chinese motorcycle manufacturers now making >600cc plus motorcycles, and a few other factors, I think it won't be too long before there is some softening of the party line and more bikes with riders can come in more easily. It can be done now, but usually through a approved tour group, and there are a couple that do regular tours into China with ones own bike, though it isn't cheap.

After discussing his experiences and views on the bike, I'm thinking it's the bike for me. So I will pull the trigger this week on a black one.
Way to go Bob! Congrats! ::012::
