I don't recall the announcements saying they were going to fly a missing man formation. If it is I suppose it's to honor those who have been claimed by covid. It might also be the angle I took the photo from but it didn't look like one as I was observing the flyover.Missing man formation?
Probably just to make a proper approach, i.e., avoid commercial traffic, wind direction, etc.I think they changed their exit strategy. When they went over the south end of Ft Worth, they left heading east. Don't know why.
I don't know how much fuel the fighters hold, but the air refuelers I worked on hold 30,000 gallons of jp8. I have no idea what a gallon of jp8 costs, but standing under the wing while filling the tanks with 200,000 pounds of fuel would make the plane would slowly settle down changing one's headroom significantly.I'm not greedy, I'll just take 1% of the cost of one of those fly overs.
...Yay... with the addition of corrosion inhibitor and anti-icing additives.I heard somewhere that JP8 is basically kerosene. Yay. . . . nay?
Many of the flyovers, including the one over my house, were not by demo pilots. The one in Idaho had a mix of guard and active duty pilots. A-10s and if I remember right F-15s They likely included an in air re-fueling helping to keep both the tanker and the fighter pilots current. As for proficiency, the demo pilots sure don't need it but with all the airshows shut down, they had the availability.
