No price or weight data. Doesn't seem to be an ES version. Could give the Super - T a run for it's money. So Honda goes from basically no US presence in the adv market to having two high end models in one year. This will be interesting.

Wow, looks nice. Would love to take it for a ride for sure.
I predict $13,500 USD for base model.

No mention of cruise control either.

To date, there is no cruise or ES option for European markets, but for the life of me cannot understand that no cruise as they have that tech anyway, but not available on the CTX1300 either and if ever there was a candidate it would be that bike!! I suspect the weight, being the heaviest DS bike, ES would only add to that. Just so happens I'm looking at this bike as a possible replacement for the S10. I should also add, that the weight stated (at least in EU) includes all fluids and full tank.

To me this appears to be a more road going sport touring version of an adv bike, vs the S10, that is an excellent sport touring bike which can handle unpaved roads and even some forest trail riding, as evidenced by some of our more talented off road riders. They are also offering the Africa Twin for those that prefer a more dirt worth adv bike. While the lack of cruise on a road focused adv bike is a bit puzzling, I saw Honda do the same thing with the first Gold Wing F6B model, which is a 100% touring bike. Finally this year they added cruise.

I know several of the top American Honda folks from my time as Prez of the Honda Sport Touring Association (HSTA, now the MSTA) including one good friend that works at HQ and is involved with new bike announcements, etc, and have been talking to him in particular about their reasoning for not bringing the Crosstourer to the USA. Before they decided to bring the CB1100 to the states, they had one on display at our MSTA national rally in Colorado in 2012, along with feedback forms for us to see if we thought they should import it. In my private discussions with my friend that brought the CB1100 there, I told him that my opinion was that they should get into the adv market with the Crosstourer instead. At the time, their research indicated that they would do better with the standard CB1100. Well, it didn't go over that well, just as the standard VFR1200 didn't do as well as expected and this year I was told that we should stand by, as they were now getting serious about the adv market.

As for me, I am on on my second S10 and just recently, as I was on a day ride on it, I was thinking that this is by far the best bike I have had in 49 years of riding and it was perfect in every way for me and made me smile every time I rode it. I am positive that at 17,000+ miles, it runs better with every mile. While I am glad that Honda is finally getting into this market, I can't see either the more dirt focused Africa Twin or more road focused (without cruise) VFR1200X tempting me to replace my 14 ES with either. If this had happened 4 years ago before I bought my first S10, it may well have been a different story.

You would've had Yamaha lust if you'd bought the Honda.
I rode the Cross Tourer a couple of years ago and it was OK, but not up to the Tenere in a number of ways. With the Gen2 Tenere, that would be even more so.

What I'd really like to see Honda do is bring out a 3rd generation ST, be it a 1300, 1200 or some other displacement.

To me, this is more in competition with the Versys 1000 than the ST...similar bike as it's not really intended for anything off road more than dirt roads/gravel

::026:: I don't think they ever marketed it as anything more than a more comfortable version of the VFR1200, at least to the older, less bendy people like me ::025::

Good thought and I'd agree. A Versus or DL1000 for the slightly more street owners, but with a shaft.

One of the reasons I picked the S10 over the Versys was the shaft drive. Given what we know about the Honda, I'd still take the Tenere at least because of the ES and cruise control. I'm betting that V4 engine is super nice though.

The engine was typical V4 and I liked it. The rest of the bike had the Honda fit and finish.

Other than that, there were a lot of things that just didn't click for me. Suspension, the instrument display, etc.
