Help me fix my seat!

I just got back from a 1500 mile ride through the Adirondacks and some of Canada. I have officially found the limitation of the stock seat for me. I already have done the "level" bumpers.

What is killing me is the area under my thighs. What gets me is where the seat ends and my legs drop off towards the pegs. This area really starts to hurt after ~4-6 hours in the saddle. Anyone have this problem and "fix" it with an aftermarket seat?

I really like how much I can move around on the stock seat. I don't want that too limited with the aftermarket fix.

Suggestions?

I'd say at least a half inch thinner on each side where you describe. I haven't measured, just feels that way

Were all of you experiencing trouble in the same area I am describing? Any pictures OF THE SEAT?

Pictures of the problem area?!?!? O:)

On mine, just got a sore, numb butt. Then after a while everything else started to hurt.

There was a group buy here on the forum that just ended on the BMS...but you could probably still get the deal....a heck of a good deal, btw.

I recently got a Russell Day Long. I'm still breaking it in, but I believe it will be the seat for me. I have a 1,500 mile ride coming up this weekend, so I'll know more after that.

As a relatively cheap experiment, you might try an AirHawk. I used one for years on my Honda Shadow and loved it. While it won't give you quite the distance of a RDL, it only costs a fraction of a RDL. And unlike a RDL, an AirHawk won't limit your movement.

It looks like the Russell Day Long and BMS are working with the stock seat pan?

If that is the case, I would prefer to buy the Corbin. For this kind of money I would prefer to have a full replacement so I could sell it separately at any point in the future. Plus, I won't be down while I wait for shipping back and forth and the time for them to modify the seat.

I appreciate everyone enjoying their new seats, but without knowing what you found uncomfortable about the stock seat, it might not be relevant to my problem.

I know most people complain about a sore rear section or significant tail bone pain.

I do NOT have that. I have 2 "hot spots" right where the seat ends under my legs.

Did anyone else experience this before swapping seats?

I had that and sleepypeepee where my nuts and crank went numb while riding, and I had to change position a LOT

the Corbin doesn't lean forward like the stock (preventing the sleepypeepee in my case) and isn't as wide in the front preventing the rub on the thighs (for me)

I have narrowed my options to the Corbin and the Airhawk. Any quick opinions/advice on which way I should lean?

I bought my AirHawk for my 2001 Honda Shadown Aero 1100 (love that bike!). It had a Corbin seat with a gel pack, but it wasn't enough for my fat butt (6 foot, 205 pounds). I slapped the AirHawk down and my range increased 5 fold. I'd go with the AirHawk. My two cents.
