To give an idea how reliable these bikes are, my buddy is still riding his 1st gen Super Tenere and is probably close to 80,000 miles on it now (he had over 50,000 in 2017) . He worked at a dealership and got the very first one that came to the dealer. The only 2 issues he's had are losing spokes and a bad coil stick. I'm almost positive he is still on the original clutch. I'm pretty sure he did upgrade the CCT at his valve adjustment. I say if the price is right go for a gen 1.
