Help me choose!

To give an idea how reliable these bikes are, my buddy is still riding his 1st gen Super Tenere and is probably close to 80,000 miles on it now (he had over 50,000 in 2017) . He worked at a dealership and got the very first one that came to the dealer. The only 2 issues he's had are losing spokes and a bad coil stick. I'm almost positive he is still on the original clutch. I'm pretty sure he did upgrade the CCT at his valve adjustment. I say if the price is right go for a gen 1.

Having had both Gens, I agree with all the others who said the Gen1 is fine, but I would find the extra couple grand for a Gen2 even if higher in mileage. Yamaha just made enough improvements that it is an all around better bike and ride even though most of it is the same.

160,000 kms on my 2016, original clutch and coils and everything else except the front brake light switch (warranty) and wear items such as fluids, filters, tires, brakes and suspension.
