Tabasco are these tires rated for use in below freezing temps?? I'm asking because of the recent Bridgestone thread that I linked from the KLR forum....
I've not had much time to read about the bridgestones. But I have riden my K60 below freezing many times. No problem at all. Check the tire pressure is all I did.offcamber said:Tabasco are these tires rated for use in below freezing temps?? I cut my K60 for Bieber.scott123007 said:Between cutting chunks out of your tires and now worrying about below freezing temps and weather your tires can handle it, I think some of you guys are slowly losing your marbles. Hang in there, Winter is almost over

As I posted on another thread, it's not just a Bridgestone problem.offcamber said:Okay I realize asking about the temp rating seems a little over the top....the reason I asked was I was "discussing" the Bridgestone issue on another forum and mentioned I would probably replace the OEM tires for K60s and was jumped on about "how do I know what they are rated for bla bla bal" to which I admitted I didn't know and would find out....so I went to the source on these tires....retrospectively I realize it probably seemed overly paranoid....

Put mine on last saturday, and mine are very smooth except for around 20 miles an hour. No i do notice around 65MPH on the highway my windscreen is vibrating like crazy, but I feel nothing in the handlebars or seat. When I got home I was looking to see how much weight they had added while balancing and noticed there was no weight added. My tires do have a red dot that was aligned with the valve stem, and I know he put them on the balancer because I saw him spinning them up.nwryder12 said:Got my K60's spooned on this weekend and finally got a chance to ride today. First impressions: A whole lotta rumble and noise to start with. My first thought was "shit! I put something back together wrong . Then I realized its just the vibe/break-in nature of the tires that everyone spoke of. They're kinda skittish on the tarmac at first, then I found some forest service roads and discovered the true nature of these tires ::013:: On the return trip home, I noticed the vibes less and as the newness scrubbed off, they handled better in the corners than I first thought. I think these are gonna work great. Thanks again Jaxon.
Great points. While it is my opinion these are the best all around tire for what the S10 is primarily designed for, I also find myself holding back a little on the road as compared to when I had the stock tires. But the trade off as to what these will do off-road compared to the stock tires is what makes them well worth it.snakebitten said:No qualms with the "skittish" at first on tarmac before they even get scrubbed in.
And for the few folks that describe them as scary on tarmac AFTER they are scrubbed in, I can bow humbly and simply admit they can ride harder on road than I normally will.
Keep in mind I am almost always tcs1 on tarmac. For sure in rain.
To be honest, I'm the opposite of my brother. (He's a K60 convert)
He is very comfortable on road, but tentative and conscientious when the pavement ends.
I'm reasonably conscientious on road, but much more comfortable taking risks off road. This amazing bike just PULLS me endlessly to towards even the smallest sample of adventure. Ditches and fields and corner lots are a constant distraction.
Hopelessly addicted. The K60 is probably the pusher.
