I love my S10 seat... it's soft, two-coloured and has great anti-grip... When I wash the bike, I take extra care drying it off so my little buttocks don't get wet when I put her back in the garage... It's such a treat in comparison to the seat on the Corsaro... C:)

I have no problem with seat. One ride I did not wear my compression shorts and got monkey butt , but have never had any problems wearing compresstion underwear, also, I am one of those big butt americans.
One of the beauties of the S-Ten is that it's very easy to stand up and shake 'em out :D

I've yet to hear anyone praise the stock seat on any brand of bike, so I think our's is on par.
I have to say , the stock seat on a Buell Ulysses is as perfect as you can get. 20k + miles and I never wanted to change anything about it.

I'm pretty happy with the stock seat. Its not an $700 Russell I'm sure but its one of the better stocks seats I've had. I'm probably in the minority here but I love the anti-slip surface on the Yami seat. My biggest gripe about my old V-Strom was sliding forward every time you grab the brakes pretty hard. Around town it wasn't too bad but in the mountains it got frustrating.

I love the stock seat and I love the anti-slip top. I only have 840 miles on mine but I can go a whole tank full of fuel without the need to stop to stretch legs and relieve bum numbness. It feels like I could ride it all day without any problems. :)

I have a Euro first edition. What I have found over the past year, riding in different seasons is that the stock seat great in cooler conditions, but not as good in warm conditions. I wonder if this is reason for the greater seat dissatisfaction in the US?

Yes, sounds a little far-fetched to me that Yamaha would be downgrading things like paint and seat foam. It appears they've decontented the electronics on the bike somewhat to meet a price point (immobilizer, flashers, etc.), but I don't think they've substituted cheaper materials in the construction.

Personally, I wish Yamaha had charged another $500 and given us the immobilzer, flashers, a knock sensor, an electric adjustable screen, an ABS switch, a BMW/powerlet compatible acc plug, a true outside air temp sensor, and a gear indicator. But I understand why they feel meeting a price point is more important than these features.

Every new vehicle I buy, I monitor the forums for people's issues, both before and after purchase. If there is anything that is absolutely universal is that regardless of the vehicle, there will be some folks who think the paint quality of the vehicle, the windshield's resistance to chips, the seating comfort, etc. is subpar compared to the competition. It's just par for the course. I think it is just inherent in human nature that on a new vehicle, we pay a lot more attention to minor irritants that later will not be noticed.

It might be nice to have those things available as OPTIONS, but some of us like simple. I'd like to see no abs no traction control, ect. and a LOT cheaper. As it stands, I think I got excellent value for money, and I never felt that way with my previous BMWs. To each his own

Now that's a statement. I think I'd agree. The XT is definitely VFM IMHO ::008::

Lets see, guys in Europe like the seat, guys in America not so much. Americans tend to be overweight according to stats, Europeans not so much.

Considering many on here myself included are over 200lbs by our own admission I suggest that this continent requires a seat foam density adjustment or a diet. ;)

Just saying, had to point it out. :-X

Interesting theory, but I really doubt our friends on the other side of the pond are that much lighter than my 178lbs. I find the seat pretty uncomfortable. If losing another 10lbs would make it better I might just consider going on a diet.

I suggest that Americans are soft and whiney, either that or it's the big, boney, square ass that we get as we get older. Gotta be one or the other. ::025:: ::025::

I've lost 40 lbs since purchasing the S10 and I have to say the stocker has become bearable after my weight loss. ::008::

Agree. I'm down a bunch from my 187 last year this time (like 35 pounds less) and the seat still sux IMHO.
