I am looking for advice on a potential insurance claim. My 2012 recently tipped over and at the time I didn't notice any damage other than a couple scrapes on the hand guards and plastic side covers. I was looking it over today and noticed the rust spots on the right side foot rest bracket. I am concerned that this part can't be easily replaced since it is welded to the frame. It isn't cracked (the metal) as far as I can tell but it definitely sustained some stress, enough to crack/chip off the paint on the weld and allow rust to start forming. Has anyone seen this after a tip over? Should I be concerned that they might total it since this is welded directly to the frame and is not a simple replacement part? I have called the insurance company and they suggested I get a quote for the repair, the shops I called here wanted >$200 just to give the quote. I am trying to weigh my options so again any advice would be greatly appreciated.
