Guidance need on possible insurance claim

I am looking for advice on a potential insurance claim. My 2012 recently tipped over and at the time I didn't notice any damage other than a couple scrapes on the hand guards and plastic side covers. I was looking it over today and noticed the rust spots on the right side foot rest bracket. I am concerned that this part can't be easily replaced since it is welded to the frame. It isn't cracked (the metal) as far as I can tell but it definitely sustained some stress, enough to crack/chip off the paint on the weld and allow rust to start forming. Has anyone seen this after a tip over? Should I be concerned that they might total it since this is welded directly to the frame and is not a simple replacement part? I have called the insurance company and they suggested I get a quote for the repair, the shops I called here wanted >$200 just to give the quote. I am trying to weigh my options so again any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ive seen this on many Tenere's... After inspection, I would suggest cleaning it and adding some new black paint.. If you see a crack you can have a welder TIG or even MIG it for pretty cheep... Because its steel it can be fixed quick and easy........ Of course if this doesn't sound like the road you want to go down, you can get insurance, Etc involved...

I would set the bike up on the center stand and get behind it and see if the pegs are sitting evenly compared to each other. If that side was bent a little, the peg would be a little out of whack. If you cannot do it yourself, have a mom and pop type of welding shop straighten it out and throw another bead on the weld, hit it with a little spray paint and call it done. You are going to cost yourself a bunch of money in terms of increased insurance premiums if you claim this kind of stuff.

Look close to make sure there is no crack, which would be unusual. Use a little wire brush to clean the rust, then an acid brush or dollar store child's paint brush and a little satin or gloss black enamel paint. (model paint and Rustoleum both work fine)
The paint is also eventually going to be needed for nicks and scratches on the crash bars and such.

It looks a little bent compared to mine.
If it were me, and there is no crack, I'd paint it and carry on.

If it is cracked and you need it rewelded, I'd be happy to TIG it for you.
