Yes it does (IMOP). You can use a little "star tron" to help.

Oh man it's like 2005 all over again!

Most of the US runs 10% ethanol blend. Brazil (if Teneres exist there) runs 25% ethanol blend.

For all of the BS associated with it, I haven't really experienced concrete problems with FUEL INJECTED motors.

Sure, the carbs on some small engines and older bikes don't like it. The Tenere doesn't seem to mind.

Here in the states we have an option to pay more for "recreational gas" without ethanol.
I had to use regular unleaded with 10% on my last trip(some stations don't have the option) bike ran ok but would start pinging under load. I refueled as soon as I could and added some additive to help.

Do you have the clutch switch jumper?

Heard on car TV show this week that Shelll V-power fuel has no ethanol in its components. They even tested it in a formula F1 car ans to their surprise, gave similar performance ! Make sure you store the bike off season with non ethanol fuel and stabilier.

I ran an SV650 carbed bike on 95RON E10 and non E10 for 2 years no problem.
I ran a DL1000 on anything around 95 RON mostly whetehr it has Ethanol in it or not.
I have run the S10 on mostly 95RON and Opal fuel and E10 regular and it has had no problem.

I have now a total of Seven years on bikes running whatever was available that wasn't diesel with no problems.

The only time things got a bit strange was on a batch of 91RON ONCE when the closed loop system got a bit confused it seems. It started hunting a bit.

I have used 20% Ethanol unleaded in a 1982 model Datsun with no problems for two years because the Lead replacement fuel did not like the 11:1 compression ratio.

Running ethanol blends with no problems since 1995 in bikes and OR cars but not exclusively.

That might be true up in Canadia...but down here in NJ 10% ethanol is REQUIRED by law.

Ummm, I agree with the above comments. I haven't had any problem with my bikes in using a 10% ethanol blended fuel. That includes 70k on a Triumph Sprint ST, it still runs great!

I despise the stuff.

Feel like it was shoved down my throat.

I eat corn. Love it. But seems like I am always trying to get the stuff out of my small carbed equipment. I have way too many weedeaters, chain saws, mowers, and motorcycles. Don't use them enough and never disciplined enough to change the way I use\store them.

I'd gladly pay extra for gas without corn in it. But in my rural area, it's not available.

I love corn and farmers. So don't take it personal please. :)

When I buy gas in "red" cans I treat it right then and there. If gas is in a red can, it is for my non-road engines. That means it might get burned within 2 weeks in the mower, or 1/4 gallon might sit in the log splitter until I get motivated for months. Treat it from the start and I have never had a problem.

It does seem like the 2-strokes do "ok". So far my chainsaws, blower and weed wacker have been "ok".

Things like the cars and Tenere get used enough that the fuel never gets more than 1 week old. Heck, the Tenere usually gets 2-3 tanks/week.

Hi all, as of the first of next month, all gasoline will have 5% ethanol in my country. Anybody knows if this can affect the performance of the S10? Thanks for your coments.
You asked about performance. The bike will make about 1-2% less power and mileage will suffer about this much also. It will probably not be noticeable or measurable. The bike is designed to run on up to 10% ethanol, so there should be no technical issues. I'll leave the politics and fear-mongering to others.

Saw some wisecracks and a bit of joking. (By me even)

But fear mongering? Politics?

Where?

It's hump day and I'm stuck at a desk looking at my ADV toy out the window. Brutal.

Can't we have any fun anymore?

The Star Tron helped me get my weed wacker, edger, & mower back up to decent running condition when Lucas & Seafoam did not seem to help. Can't say I have noticed the corn additive affecting my vehicles though.

The guy asked about performance changes. You brought up corn, farmers, and having ethanol "shoved down your throat". We'd have more fun if discussions like this didn't ride off the rails into politics.

Speak for yourself, MJ...

With as little as goes wrong with the Super Tenere sometimes a lot of fun can be had talking about corn (and maybe grain, too), farmers (and their daughters), and ethanol down one's throat (as in whiskey, whisky, and other spirits)... And politics can be fun, too... Especially when it brings posting ethics fear-mongering folks out of the woodwork!!! ::025::

Lighten up. It's an internet forum, and Snake's is one of the best around here at bringing some humor into most any discussion, just like I believe he was here. I know humor is a difficult concept for you, MJ, but it's out there. You just have to recognize it. ;)

Having just re-built my DRz400 carb because of Ethanol I can say it was because fuel sat in the carb too long. In a carb system, there is air in the carb and lines all the time so the deterioration of the alcohol (foolishly wasted food byproduct) is greatly increased. The S-Ten is fuel injected so there is no air until the fuel sees the combustion chamber so it doesn't suffer the rapid deterioration rate. I suggest you treat fuel when the bike will set for more than a month but make sure you run the treatment well into the system. There are many treatments on the market, I use Lucas. As far as performance, I've run the Ethanol free fuel before and cant tell the difference between it an the 10% Ethanol fuel. The place I buy mine Ethanol free fuel is only allowed to sell it as "recreational fuel" and they dont say anything when I fill up the bike. It is 89 Octane opposed to the 93 octane I use w/ Ethanol. I cant feel the difference in performance. ::001::
