What are people thinking of this unit? How do you mount it to a 1st gen Tenere?
My 595LM was an upgrade from my old 76CSX. This thing has so many dang features it's mind boggling. I'm still figuring out how to interface it for turn to turn. I'm just now learning to use my first ever Sena 20 bluetooth system I just added to my Neotech helmet. And hell yes that headset system is a lot of dough!!Been using a 595 for about 3 years and like it but in my opinion Garmin made some pretty poor choices when designing the 595, if you put my old Nuvi 1450 beside the 595 it’s very disappointing to see how much better the old 1450 screen was. they made a major mistake designing without a built in speaker thus forcing you to buy some sort of headset for a lot of extra money Just so you can hear the GPS. They should have designed it with a very easy way to switch between adventurous routing and fastest route with the single push of a button.
At first I used a Ram Mount clamped to handlebar, eventually rough roads would cause the clamp to move. So I bought a Ram Mount off eBay for about $10 that replaces one of the handlebar bolts, it has never moved and it’s pretty easy to rest my hand on the tank bag in order to operate the GPS while moving, but I prefer not to monkey with the gps while moving.I’m also using one and mostly agree with the above.
I had mine mounted in the center of the handle bars but currently have it on the screens crossbar. Kinda like the center handle bar mount better.
One of the reasons I put it on the crossbar is to keep from monkeying with it. I didn't help but my eyes are fwd looking not downward now.At first I used a Ram Mount clamped to handlebar, eventually rough roads would cause the clamp to move. Never attempted the screen crossbar Mount , seems like that would make the GPS nearly impossible to operate while driving ? But otherwise that does seem like a nice easy to view location.
