I have the factory crash bar setup already mounted, but am now of a mind that I need more protection than it can provide. I am planning a ride up through Kashmir, which has a high probability of having to ride through recent landslide fields. I like the factory bars' design for protecting the engine cases from strikes resulting from bouncing off of rocks while still moving. However, the factory bars do not provide much protection to the body if the bike falls over. I need a bar set that not only protects the upper sides of the fairing from tip-overs, but retains the engine casing protection of the factory.
Most of the non-factory bar sets seem to focus exclusively on the upper parts of the bike, and ignore the sides of the engine. I know I've seen at least one set that covers the entire front of the bike from the lower engine cradle to the top of the radiator. I'd appreciate any guidance on where to locate full-coverage bars. I'm looking as well, but have not had much luck.
