Looks like these pics. might be of some use to someone.
In the fall after our return ride from Arkansas we had some rough idle issues .When all electrical checked out we pulled the fuel pump to have a look. You just need a small screwdriver to carefully pry the plastic tab back that is holding the pump in. I think its there to stop you pulling the pump out to quickly and damaging the fuel sensor float arm?
And for those with a weak stomach for such things, look away now as this is some of the crap that I backflushed from the internal fuel filter. ???
The pump on the left is an Ebay purchase to see if it would be a suitable backup replacement for mine as the OEM is pretty pricey. It is a Denso pump with the correct part number and other than having the wrong Oring installed where the pump enters the filter housing it is the correct pump. Doug C got one also as his OEM pump filter was worse than mine and hes been running the Ebay pump and filter for a while now. I haven't installed the new one yet as the original is working fine after it was cleaned. Maybe a fuel filter bypass mod might have to be thought about in the future, which has been done on other bikes.
And the filter screen at the bottom of the pump pick up. We have sourced another supplier for this filter, but no luck on the main filter as it is sold with the fuel pump as an assembly. I will have to find the part number for the filter screen and post it up.
