Lightly used (approx. 5000 miles) Penske 8983 shock for sale. It's sprung with a 750lb Eibach.

You'll get the manual, datasheet for this shock, preload adjustment tool, and the clamps/mounts to hold it to the subframe. See pic.

This unit is priced right.

$575.00 + shipping, PayPal preferred.

What would that spring rate equate to in rider weight? Two up with oem panniers?

Stoltec supplied the 750 pond spring for a total weight of 300 pounds of rider and gear. Two up riding would depend on the weight of ...hmmm...the two ::019:: I was told that the stock spring actually tests out at about 650 pounds. Other weight springs are available through Stoltec and changing springs is supposed to be easy to do in less than an hour without any special tools.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a Penske product. I have been using them for the past 13 years on and off on road race bikes. I take it that most don't like the design simply due to there is no preload knob, one must adjust preload with the provided tool. To me that is just not a big deal as the tool is nothing but a bent elbow rod same thing as a phillips head screwdriver that will do the same thing.

FWIW I currently am using a JRi http://www.jrishocks.com/products/index.cfm?cat_id=11 on the rear of my GSXR1000 trackbike, basically it's a Penske rebadged. John Ryan is Penske he just doesn't work for Penske anymore. The creator of the original Penske shock left Penske and took his design with him. For a trackbike the beauty of a JRi is it weighs next to nothing verses a Penske or Ohlins rear shock. On a racebike weight is your enemy though be it every ounce.

Rest your concerns about a Penske shock it is a top notch quality product just not as old school user friendly (preload adjustment only) as the other brands. IMO that's not a problem. ::012::

Since I do more off road riding than pavement on my Tenere, I've decided to stick with the stock suspension for now.
I bought my Penske in December and never installed it. Absolutely nothing wrong with Penske's.
