Them are the boots every kid dreamed of owning and the boots every real rider had. "High Points"
It looks like there was 4 , 5 , and 6 buckle versions.
Roger Decoster's boots
Mine have the 6 straps with pegs instead of buckles. A bit of a struggle to get the straps over the pegs, but easy to take off. Since I have the original "6 buckle" version that every real rider had, I must therefore, be a "real rider". ;D Hoo. hah!

These go pretty high on ebay, but I wouldn't think of selling these. I even had them resoled a few years ago.

That 2007 Motocross Des Nations trip was going to be 4 of us riding out on our bikes.
A couple days prier to departure I had one of the worst dirt bike crashes I ever had.
It was right in our back yard.
I had a big double jump back there that I have jumped so many time I can’t count that high, I ended up flipping the bike forward and it landed on top of me.
The good thing about a crash like that is ,—It doesn’t hurt if you can’t remember it.
It took Michelle a long time to get me loaded into the truck for the trip to the hospital, she said all I could say is “ I need to sleep here.”
I ended up with mostly just a broken collar bone. But the ride out to Budds Creek was out for me.
The guys decided to take a van so I could still go.

On the way out we stopped at the AMA museum and they just so happened to have MX bikes as the theme.

This one is for you Fred.

This one is for Dallara.

This one is for wfopete.

Brad Lackeys world champ bike

This one is for me,, I always liked these A friends brother had one.

And all you RC fans ,,,eat your heart out, This was his National Winning RM250 , still had the magnesium carb on it, We got to play on it all we wanted,
Well maybe we weren't suppose to.

Thanks for the pics, Steve. You can delete that abortion of a bike called the Optaco. Sure glad that it didn't make it into production. I hope that Sr Bulto fired the guy who thought that was a good idea. Too fugly to be a Bultaco. :-[

Dirt Dad, Maybe I seen you there. :) I remember the Irish, now that was funny! But A little you know what for a family crowd.

Ryan Villopoto was the main attraction.
I do remember Ryan Villopoto being the star that day. Beating everyone on his little 250, including all the 450 guys.

I also remember keeping an eye on Ricky that day. Knowing it was his very last professional race. I remember being appreciative of being there to see it. That guy was the model of how a champion should be. Good role model for my daughter.

Not sure, but that Villapoto photo might be off Henry Hill. The first time I ever rode at Budds I remember going up to Henry Hill thinking it was probably a jump, so I gave it a good amount of throttle. I remember watching the ground drop away underneath me more than it ever had in the past. And I definitely remember giving a little oh shit scream in my helmet. I believe that is the only time I've ever truly scared myself on a bike. I'm certain it didn't look special to anyone watching, but it's a mental image that has never left me.

Glad you made it out there. Sounds like you have some good friends watching out for you.

Man, you guys are old. My wife was riding hare scrambles and enduros back mid to late 80's. Pic for your enjoyment. She placed in the NMA against the guys, 6th. We still have the trophies in the garage. She's on the red/white Honda Hurcules 200 mid stream, (which we still have).

EricV,
That is awesome that your wife raced.
My wife rode with us all the time [mostly ATV] but never raced.
Our daughter raced quite a bit and was plenty fast.

Emily waiting at the start.

At the checkers.

My wife had pit duty. Which was to immediately take my helmet off after I dismounted and laid prone on the ground.
Then pour water on my head while I caught my breath.
Finally, to help me back up and sit with me for a few minutes while I explain why I would put myself through the whole ordeal.

She was my pit nurse, if I really want to be honest. Lol

Great pics guys. Awesome thread.
Yea, we're kinda old.

Wife and daughters racing, that's awesome. ::008::

My girls never raced, but they were willing to get down and dirty.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread. Just saw an opportunity to dig out some old pictures.

I'm guilty of that too, no harm. Great to see the old pics and friends and family out tearing it up.

I haven't met the OP yet. But I believe that will be remedied in a little more than 11 weeks from now.

Actually by then I will have met a lot of OPs from around here.

It is not looking good for me to make WV.
I have a really big trip in the planning and I won't have any vacation time left over.

Now back to the old Motocross.
This is my one chance at preserving Motocross history.
I found this in a barn and picked it up for $50. I held on to it for 20 years and decided I needed to let someone else restore it.
I ended up selling it on E Bay and making a bundle off of it. I still hated to see it go.
They are supposed to be very rare.

That's an awesome shot.

I'm not finding as many action pictures of the family playing in the dirt. But I do have a video of the family playing in the dirt...in fact, this is probably around the time I picked the name Dirt_Dad. Watching the video again I guess I could have picked Mud_Dad just as easily.

Bummer to hear you might not make Romney. I'll still hold out hope.

Oh wait, just remembered this one. Dirt_Moms first day learning to jump a bike.

Ok, if you don't mind, I'll post a few pics of our family and bikes.

Our first born, David, now 49. Of course I started out by extolling the virtues of Bultacos to him.

But, first he started with his new Yamaha MX60. At least he had his Bultaco tee shirt on. ;D

Then, when I handed down my 1973 350 Alpina to him, he learned how to wheelie over obstacles and practiced in the yard.

Our second son, Erick, now 44 got his first bike, which was Dave's hand me down Yamaha 60.

And he soon learned how to twist the throttle.

They would ride all day in the back yard.

Erick finally got his first brand new bike. A Honda XR80. Here he is tearing up the back yard track.

Wife Donna teaching Erick the finer points of the "thumbs up" gesture.

I even let Donna ride my Sherpa T.

Of course, I learned to misbehave on my Buls back then and never did out grow that. Complete with 1976 bicentennial beard.
.

Now, David is my travelling buddy. He has a neat 2009 Wee Strom ABS and loves the same kid of sport/adventure touring that I do. It doesn't get much better than that.

Thanks for giving me an excuse to look thru old pics. Hope you didn't mind my sharing some of them.

Glad you guys enjoyed looking into our archives as much as I did. I edited my post, as I found a pic of #2 son Erick riding his first new bike, a XR80.

It is nice going through the archives. I take so many pictures and they sit on some hard drive out of sight out of mind. Really nice to comb through and see not only the bike stuff, but everything. This thread has been great for slowing me down to remember so much I had forgotten.

We also did the XR80 for our daughter. That bike is was led us into ATVs.
