Fred my only guess would be "the flying hawaian"

Snake ,, Michelle just reminded me of a race once that they made me start backwards and I got the hole shot.
I was already in trouble so I just took off , spun that thing around and was wide open coming through my spot when they dropped that gate. They never said a thing. One of the guys I was racing came over and ask how in the world did you get the hole shot? I just said " fast bike"

That is actually Marty Tripes in the pic at Diamond Don's a couple years ago. Not quite in MX shape any more.

I was at some of the Inter AMA/Trans AMA MX events near St Charles, MO, I think the track was in St Peters. Just found some pics from one of the events.

Great pictures guys. Please post up more.
Snake I have started pointing the wrong way a few times.
I also started digging around here and found some more good pictures.
First I need to point out that the picture of Rick holding Emily would be from 1988 not 1989 because Eric wasn't born yet.
Emily pointing at Ron Lechien.

I scanned this one backwards.
These of Ron Lechien on his KX500 reminded me of one of my all-time favorite bikes - an '89 KX250. Awesome bike for it's day, raced it until getting a '91. I wish I kept it just to have in the garage!

Elsinore!

I remember when they suddenly, almost overnight, filled more than 1/2 the starting grid.
Went from mostly Yellow to Silver quickly.

I was a yellow fan. Hated those dang silver rockets. :)

Wow, thanks for the memories guys. Reminds me of in the 70's jumping in the shagin wagon with my girlfriend (now wife) and heading to Red Bud (Michigan) for 4th of July weekend watching Bob Hannah and crew. Helped a buddy of mine race in AAA earlier in the same weekend. Now I'm going to see if I can find and dig out some of those old pics of mine.

Good memories. We went to the Motocross Des Nations held at Budds Creek in 2007. My daughter was 15 then and had a blast watching the world act up. The Irish fans were running around doing something goofy. Other contingents would sound off from time to time. It was a different feel from the Nationals we had attended there several times. I think of all the races she went to, that was her clear favorite.

Don't have any photos from that year, but do have some from the Nationals back in 2002 and 2003. My daughter loved Ricky.

Homemade earplugs out of tissue do not work.

She always had a lot of fun.

I loved riding that track, but easy to tell I was never going to line up with the big boys...or even the B class riders.

Even though I was never good at it, I loved doing it.

Pierre Karsmakers, the Flying Dutchman! I think the boots were marketed by Yamaha as he rode for them at the time.
Speaking of boots, I am still wearing the original boots I bought back in the early 70's when I ride vintage now. Just can't seem to get the proper "feel" when shifting the old bikes with my modern boots. Recognize these?

Fred
Them are the boots every kid dreamed of owning and the boots every real rider had. "High Points"
It looks like there was 4 , 5 , and 6 buckle versions.
Roger Decoster's boots

Dirt Dad, Maybe I seen you there. :) I remember the Irish, now that was funny! But A little you know what for a family crowd.

I thought this gal stole the show Tarah Gieger.
She is doing this huge double jump with a bail cover stuck to her bike like a parashoot.

Ryan Villopoto was the main attraction.

And Ricky

And do you remember " Cairoli Who ? "
