Never understood the Nike "Doesn't Play Well With Others" - always sat badly with me as an aspiration.I had to to look that up. Nope, not going to happen either. I am fortunate enough not to have to. My sympathies go to those that have to so they can survive.
Nope. Yet another character flaw. Does not play well with others . . . . nor does peer pressure work well either. Been called a sissy plenty of times. . . . have even referred to myself as a sissy. . . . still not going to do something I don't want to do. Case in point. . . . spent six years in the US Navy on a U-boat. . . . no tattoos.
@PhilPhilippines - Welcome to the thread. You might consider taking a moment to put your location in your profile. Rather than have others assume from your user name. This is the Food Porn thread, which attempts to share really tasty food, mostly that members have made themselves, but we're open to restaurant meals and discovered things on the net too.
Good food is as much about prep as ingredients. Some of the foods served in the South are unappealing ingredients that have been turned into tasty meals by solid prep and process, along with other ingredients to transform it into a tasty and appealing dish. If, like the Ice delivery guy, I knew that the restaurant sold a clean PagPag, I'd not be terribly bothered by the ingredients. From the video, his process is thorough and designed to kill any nasties so customers don't get sick and come back. Besides, damn near anything goes well with steamed rice.
Share something you've cooked or eaten recently with us, that you enjoyed.
P.S. If most people knew what went into american hot dogs, they would think PagPag was more reasonable.
Used to have some great adverts in the late 80s-90s - LOLAhh, the Cream of Manchester...!
If they were a younger age, the Hipsters are all about PBR and Hamms level brews for a while now, somehow thinking retro beer is "the thing". I went to a Motorcycle show in Portland quite a while ago and there were lots of cafe abominations, some very well executed machines and the only beer being sold was PBR for 50 cents a can.Funny story from a few years back. Meet a couple Canadians in Las Vegas and rode all dirt to Palmdale for the start of LAB2LV. First day we stopped for lunch at a small bar out in the desert. They both ordered a Pabst Blue Ribbon. LOL I was dumbfounded as to why since availble selection of brews was quite good.
It's never been an aspiration. I just don't go along to get along. Everybody has different opinions and view on everything. I don't expect everybody to think the same as me; not a problem. But, I'm sure that you've met people that if you don't agree with everything they say/do, you're a bad person; so be it. I'll respect anybody, as long as they respect me.Never understood the Nike "Doesn't Play Well With Others" - always sat badly with me as an aspiration.
It is very traumatic to see the poverty in some parts of Asia. Survival is a reality sdly.
Gotta burn the cheese for me...Sheppard's Pie tonight. Mmmmm
Before going into the oven. Ground beef, onions & garlic to start, then peas and carrots & gravy with beef bouillon mix on the bottom, mashed potatoes on top of that, covered with Tillamook Med Cheddar cheese to finish.

Bubbling hot goodness coming out of the oven later, (should have taken video!)

On the plate with some fresh green onions, because everything is better with onions!

Should have made myself clear, as my comment wasn't addressed at you, it was me reflecting on the Nike brand shirts and the unsportsmanlike conduct of otherwise incredibly gifted stars such as Schumacher. I could never understand his (go-to) cheating and it frustrated me because it was so unnecessary. It's never been an aspiration. I just don't go along to get along. Looks tasty but not a shepherd's pie as I understand it!Sheppard's Pie tonight. Mmmmm

It was tasty. Shepherd's pie has many variations. Wiki says: Shepherd's pie, cottage pie, or hachis Parmentier is a ground meat pie with a crust or topping of mashed potato of English origin. The recipe has many variations, but the defining ingredients are ground red meat cooked in a gravy or sauce with onions, and topped with a layer of mashed potato before it is baked.Looks tasty but not a shepherd's pie as I understand it!
I agree that those would be more authentic, but neither lamb or pure minced beef is that commonly available in the US. That said, we used to have our butcher grind beef for us that had no other ingredients, which is essentially the same as minced beef. I enjoy lamb, but it's not something I generally will pay extra for when buying household proteins. No cheese, the meat would be minced lamb for shepherd's pie or minced beef becomes cottage pie. The key is simplicity, but I did drool greatly over your version!
I usually use lamb with diced veggies and mash on top, sometimes with parmesan and nowadays always with lasagne mixed into the mash as it guarantees crispy peaks. As I said before, I must have a pyromaniacal inkling cos I love my almost burnt bits!It was tasty. Shepherd's pie has many variations. I added a layer of cheese on top of that, but otherwise it's basically that description. What is your version?
